Limelight is Live! Who Will You Recognize First?

Recognition just got better, more visible, and more connected across Carilion! Limelight, our new digital employee recognition platform, is LIVE!

Are you ready to shine a light on the people and teams who make Carilion stronger? Each of us can help launch a new chapter in our culture of appreciation by putting others in the Limelight. 

Start With One Person

Designed to feel as familiar as a social media feed, Limelight makes recognition quick, easy, and immediate. Take a moment to think about a colleague whose actions deserve to be in the Limelight. Maybe someone stepped in when your team needed help, improved a process, supported a patient or family, solved a difficult problem, or quietly made the workday better. The most meaningful recognition is timely and specific: name what the person did, describe the impact, and connect it to our mission or values. Tag the colleague you’re recognizing, and they’ll be notified right away.

What to Expect on Launch Day

Access Limelight in Teams and Outlook, from the Inside Carilion homepage, and through the mobile app. Single sign-on makes getting started quick and easy! 

Inside Carilion 

When you log in to Inside Carilion that morning or evening, the homepage will look a little different. 

• A Limelight graphic block feature will be easy to spot and take you right to the Limelight platform; Limelight will also be accessible under Tools on the right of the page.
• The Wow Wall will no longer be available because Limelight will be Carilion's new home for employee recognition—making it easier, quicker, and more fun to put colleagues in the Limelight!  
• Employee Extras will still be there, with ongoing opportunities for prize drawings to local events and ticket giveaways, and easy access to the employee discounts site on BenefitHub.
• Personify Health remains a separate platform and a great tool that encourages healthy habits; it will still be accessible under Tools on the right of the page. 
• Workday will still be accessible under Tools on the right of the page and will continue to be the confidential place for professional development and performance feedback. 

The Limelight Experience

1. Log in and look around. Explore the social-style recognition feed and the available recognition options.
2. Choose a colleague or team. Search for the people you want to celebrate.
3. Share a meaningful message. Describe the action, its impact, and why it matters. Tag the colleague you’re recognizing, and they’ll be notified right away.
4. Keep the momentum going. Return whenever you see teamwork, service, innovation, growth, quality or patient safety worth recognizing.

And Now for the Points…

Sometimes when you go above and beyond, your leader may choose to include points with your recognition. Points won’t come with every recognition, and that's intentional. The most important thing is making sure great work gets noticed and appreciated regularly.

Service Awards: You will no longer select a single gift from an online catalog. Now you get points that can be used to buy as many items as you’d like within the point allocation. So, you aren't limited to picking out only one thing. Instead, you can choose from any tangible Amazon or Best Buy gift on the Limelight platform. Also, the recognition certificates you currently receive in the mail to celebrate milestone years will be replaced with a fun, digital memory book.

Retirement: When you retire from Carilion, you will still select a retirement gift, like in our current process, and choose either a celebration or a donation to the Carilion Clinic Foundation. For retirement gifts, you will no longer choose from an online catalog but can redeem points you receive based on years of service for any eligible tangible gift from Amazon or Best Buy through the Limelight platform.
