MarCom Supports Our Clinical Colleagues

Submitted by mldame on

This is too big to be a Wow Wall post.

Our Marketing and Communications team wants to say “Thank you!” to our thousands of clinical colleagues on the frontlines of this pandemic. We witness firsthand your commitment, your courage, and your compassion every day, and we’re grateful to each of you.

Even if the rest of the world seems to have moved on from the pain and suffering you see inside our walls, we haven’t.

On Sept, 10 at approx. 4am a Rocky Mount Police Officer was sitting with an ECO patient in the Franklin Memorial ER when the patient exited the room by pushing past the Officer. The two were in a physical altercation in the hallway of the ER when Officer Young arrived to help .The medical staff activated the panic alarm for assistance and called 911 due to no other hospital security working at the time. During the altercation the patient attempted to take the Police Officers weapon from his holster.

On August 18, 2021 at shift change our Labor and Delivery unit was in the middle of getting report from the off going shift when the labor unit doors open, and in walks Maverick a CA from the ED with a Mom and her newborn infant. Maverick had just arrived to his shift when he saw this Mother laboring in the ED and rushed her up to Labor and Delivery, on their elevator ride up the patient felt like she needed to push, and Maverick did not hesitate at all. He jumped right in and helped her deliver her baby in the elevator!

Carilion Family Medicine Christiansburg "Team Work"

Submitted by mslucas on

I would like to show how proud I am of the TEAM at Carilion Family Medicine Christiansburg. A patient coded in our waiting room this week and everyone from the providers, nurses, lab, xray and front office pulled together during this event and ultimately saved this patients life. I know that our team showed Curiosity, Collaboration, Courage, Compassion, and Commitment to a patient. I watched my staff play out the Values of Carilion Clinic and myself and the family of this patient could not be more appreciative.

Happy Nurses' Day!

Submitted by dbhalliwill on

I want to make time today to say "THANK YOU" to our nurses and nursing support teams on National Nurses' Day. I cannot imagine a year in which is has been more challenging, scary, frustrating AND rewarding to be a nurse; caring for patients at the bedside as they long for their family and friends presence, in a physician office calming nerves as patients wait for COVID test results or on the floor of a civic center (e.g. Berglund) administering life-saving vaccine.

Riverside 3 Patient Access Staff- Dedication

Submitted by slpronko on

Thank you to my entire staff for being willing to come in yesterday during the ice/sleet storm!  Some did not make it in because it was to bad in the area they lived and some tried but ended up in a "ditch". The effort was amazing but a special shout to Wanda Pedigo, Susan Albert, Terry Newcomb, Linda Sink and Phyllis Hunsley for Making it In! So admirable and such Dedication.
