Best bedside delivery

Submitted by cxtarasidis on

Sam Lucas came to the rescue for one of our CNRVMC surgical residents. She came by Mini-D trying to locate supplies for a bedside procedure. The supplies were not available and Sam noticed how distraught the resident was. He said " Give me a minute and let me see what I can do for you". Needless to say, the procedure went off with complete success.

What can I do for you ?!!  Sums it all up for those who know Sam. Thank you sir !

Daisy Award Winner - Kristina Brown, RN - October2021

I went to the Infusion Center on 09/2/21 to receive COVID antibodies. I was a very sick man. Kristie came to my care to bring me inside and from the moment I met her, she treated me like family. She was very patient as I made my way inside. She not only did her job, she asked about my family, my children and my grandson. She smiled and told me how sorry she was I was feeling bad. She shared a little about herself and family and bragged about her co-workers and her hospital. She is a proud Carilion Employee, and it is obvious she loves her job and truly enjoys caring for people.

Congratulations to Wanda Ridpath, NA with CCU, for winning the latest CNRV Bee Award!  Wanda is a joy to be around, and this stands out to her co-workers and patients. Here is what two of her patients had to say about Wanda:

"Sweet-compationate-understanding. Always checking in to make sure we had what we needed."

"This place is lucky to have her."

They are right, we are very lucky to have Wanda as a part of our CNRV family! Congratulations, Wanda, and thank you for all you do!

Carrie Alice, Child Life Specialist, is Amazing!

Submitted by mwcamper on

Huge thanks to Carrie Alice from Pam Keeble, Pediatric Cardiology Sonographer.

She walks into the room and is instantly every child's best friend.  It's just magical to watch.  Beyond that, having her around to assist us during echoes has been such a game changer.  It makes absolutely everything easier; higher quality imaging, faster scanning time, and ultimately a more positive patient experience, which sets us up for success in the future if the patient has to come back for more imaging.

Above and beyond patient service

Late afternoon on Friday August 20th i had the pleasure of working with Pamela Holcomb with the CMAP program.  I had a patient who needed a prescription but was unable to pay for it and on top of that unable to leave her home to get it due to her health.  i contacted the hospital pharmacy who provided me with Ms Holcomb's number. I advised her of the situation and she worked with me and the ED physician to arrive at a prescription that the patient could take and also one which the CMAP program could financially assist with.

Patient Care With CT

Submitted by jmfalls on

I want to give a big thanks to CT staff for helping Clinical Transport with a patient yesterday. The patient was not feeling well.. and without too much detail, the patient had made a mess all over his gown and sheets. We pulled the patient in the CT room and they jumped in to help clean them and get the scan done. Thank you guys for all the help. Don't know what I would have done without you all!
