The spirit of giving was alive at Carilion’s Technology Services Group when a group of employees organized a drive to collect items to stuff 250 holiday stockings and donate them to Carilion’s pediatric and adult patients. Soon after the call for donations went out, warm gloves and hats, fuzzy socks, coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, toys of all types, and a prized collection of Beanie Babies poured in. TSG elves spent two consecutive Thursdays at TSG stuffing the stockings and boxing them up before they were transported on Dec.
9MPCU has joined forces with Warm Hearth's Silver Santa Program for the 2nd year in a row. The program benefits seniors living in low-income apartments. 67% of these folks have incomes below the federal poverty line. Residents provide lists of needs and also any special wish list items they'd like to receive. Item lists for 2 seniors were distributed to staff on 9MPCU and we're happy to say that this year, we collected all of the desired items (plus extras!) for both of our seniors. The physical and occupational therapists and speech language pathologists from acute care at CRMH and IPR liaisons decorated 32 Christmas trees for our pediatric patients. The trees were delivered Monday, December 12 to the pediatric unit to be on display for our youngest patients to enjoy. This has become an annual event for our therapy team and is a great opportunity for the team to have fun and spread some Christmas spirit to the Children's Hospital
Every year our staff at the West Salem Family Medicine practice looks for a way to give back to the local community during the holiday season, especially those who may not have families to spend the holidays with. This year, they "adopted" 20 senior citizens for Christmas through the Home Instead program. Gifts for the seniors include clothing, outerwear, bath towels, personal care items, as well as a candy/cookie goodies and will be delivered to the senior citizens' homes through their care givers the weeks leading up to Christmas. My team and I at Radford University Student Health decided last minute to adopt an Angel from the CNRV Angel Tree. In less than 24 hours our team gathered so many wonderful gifts including clothes, lip gloss, nail art set, a journal, a pillow, blanket and much more. We are excited to bring a little extra Christmas cheer to a teenage child this holiday season! I am so thankful to be a part of such a kind, generous, and compassionate team who cares for community.
Thank you for the tremendous generosity of CRMH EKG & Echo and CRMH & CFMH Vascular Lab to provide for 3 local foster children this year! This has become an annual tradition, and this year the gifts poured in from these team members. This picture represents the gifts to 1 of the 3 children. Toys, shoes, clothing and comfy chairs were also given. GREAT JOB! So thankful for these very caring and giving team members!
Big thanks to these wonderful ladies for their amazing work on the CGCH Pediatric Christmas Party. Over 25 children were in attendance to celebrate the Christmas season with fine motor crafts and gross motor "Reindeer Games". Children enjoyed Christmas snacks, hot cocoa, and had a merry time with these awesome therapists.
