While working on 9S MSICU a patient's family shared with me their gratitude for Terri Allen, RN. This family was discussing end of life care and the chaplain was paged. The chaplain arrived to the bedside when I was off the floor for lunch. Terri seamlessly stepped into the role as primary nurse and provided support for the family and care for the patient. As the family requested, Terri worked with the chaplain to arrange and film an official baptism for the patient. I am proud of this compassion and interdisciplinary teamwork!

I received a call from Diane, a CT patient, who was so thankful for the care Savannah in Riverside CT provided.  She truly appreciated the time to get her comfortable, kindness, and care provided.  She reported having a bad experience last year and was very apprehensive to come back, but felt at ease and supported by her care.

Crystal Beliveau, LPN, of Allergy & Immunology, made a routine call to check on a patient with severe hives and to notify the patient that the medication they had been waiting on for authorization for their hives was approved.  At that time, the patient informed Crystal that they were suicidal due to the incessant itching the patient had been experiencing over the last four months.  Crystal and Allison Kibler, Administrative Coordinator, immediately arranged the patient for an urgent visit, after clinic hours, to receive the first dose of medication.  The patient was able

CRBH ICU Nurses Kelly Schulke, RN and Brian Jenkins, RN recently showed an amazing amount of compassion for one of our patients.  We had an ICU patient that endured an extended stay and began having anxiety from having to stay in a hospital room for a great length of time.  On one occasion, Brian Jenkins, RN took the patient to our 3rd floor chapel at CRBH to allow the patient to enjoy the sunset over Lexington and this proved to be very calming for the patient (amazing view from our chapel).

The Nurses and Tech's that were compassionate, patient, and kind to me and my family during my inpatient hospital stay! I have a rare and complex dysorder and I am very appreciative to these shining stars on 5W and the Nursing Resource Pool.

Josie had a patient that was requiring emergency surgery and she realized it was the patient's birthday.   Josie thought it would be nice to find a birthday card for the patient and give to the patient after surgery.  Mary went to a local store and bought the patient a balloon and card.  Josie took the card and balloon to the patient after she was admitted.  The patient was very happy and appreciative. 

I want to take some time out to let everyone know how compassionate one of our amazing doctors were to me. Dr. Tom Bishop helped me understand somethings that seemed confusing to me. He listened to what I was explaining and gave his feed back. It is nice to know that we have someone who is not only here for patients but also co-workers as well. Such a great team member. Thank you for the help. 

This morning, there was a stopped vehicle in the road across from our hospital. Leah Britton noticed the vehicle and approached the driver who informed her that she had run out of gas and did not have money to pay for gas. Leah enlisted the help of our maintenance department and the local police dept. Two of our maintenance department team members, James Henley and Dean Rakes brought enough gasoline for the driver to get to a gas station and Leah gave the driver money to have her vehicle filled with gas.

Great start to EVS week with Krispy Creme doughnuts !! It takes a team to keep it clean
