Employee Appreciation

Submitted by akgraham on

The 4 floor PreOp, PACU, & ASU celebrated employee appreciation with a Taco Thursday Fiesta! Unit Directors: Catie Rhodes RN, Ashley Graham RN, and Dianne Grahame RN thought it would be fun to have a Taco Thursday event with festive photo opportunities. We enjoyed a spread of taco fillings, sides, fiesta music, and lots of laughs.  Thank you to all the staff on the 4 floor PreOp, PACU & ASU! You all collaborate as a team to ensure that each patient makes it safely into the OR and safely on the road to recovery.

Compassion

I had to bring my daughter to the ER (CNRV) on 10/9/2023 and I wanted to recognize Ron Goodson with the EVS department. Ron was so compassionate to our family while we were there. He checked on us multiple times and made sure we were comfortable and offered us something to drink each time. He went above and beyond his duties to ensure not only the patient was taken care of but the family as well. Thank you Ron!

Congratulations to Rachel Carrick, RN, 9MICU at CRMH for winning the DAISY Award for August 2023!

The DAISY Foundation created the DAISY Award to celebrate the extraordinary efforts that our nurses give in the caring of our patients and families.  Rachel showed her compassion and special care for this family.  And on a side note, this was Rachel's first DAISY nomination and she won! Now how special is that!

Above and Beyond, Patient Advocate!

I wanted to let everyone know how Taylor Simpson from 9 Mountain PCU went above and beyond for one of our EMU patients this week.  This particular patient is unfortunately homeless and stays in hotels when he can.  Before he was discharged it was discovered that he would need some lifesaving equipment that would push his discharge back one day.  This made the patient very upset because he had already paid for his hotel that night.  She called the Customer Service number for the hotel and was able to push his check-in back one day so he wouldn't be out the cost of the roo

Great Trainer!

I completed 2 days of Registration today with Seth Marlow. Seth was a caring, compassionate, kind trainer who was knowledgeable in his field and not afraid to say when he did not know an answer and to tell us where to find the answer. He was aware of our mental health and sure to reassure us that we were in great hands at Carilion. Props to Seth for his spirit and dedication to Carilion!

While I haven't worked with her to too long, I have had the pleasure of getting to know Gail Brown with PB Medicaid, over the last couple years! While we may both work from home - she is someone I not only consider a coworker but now a close friend!  She has been with Carilion for many years and will be retiring at the end of this year!! She has guided, helped and listened for both work and personal things and it does not go unnoticed!!! I am so excited for her for her retirement, but she will most definitely be missed!!! Thank you for all you do Gail and Congratulations!!

Officer Greg goes above and beyond!

On my way into work this morning my jeep broke down at the entrance of Carilion Childrens Tanglewood and Officer Greg did not hesitate at all to come help. Even pushed my vehicle out of the road and into a parking spot. He definitely deserves some recognition for this act of kindness! Thank you again, greg! It was much appreciated.
