Susan Singleton is a Speech Language Pathologist who truly goes above and beyond for patients. A patient was having a rough time and he had been on a restricted diet. He was ready to eat some chick fil a but as we know we don't have chick fil a on site. Susan had her husband go get this patient chick fil a and bring it her here at the hospital so they could practice eating and swallowing with food the patient actually enjoyed. This is just a small act of kindness that she displays to all of her patients. 

In 2025, Jessica Shrewsbury, BSN, RN, CTL, launched the Recognizing OR Services Excellence (ROSE) Provider Award to celebrate providers within Operating Room Services (ORS) who consistently go above and beyond in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting their teams.

Alison Cronk, health educator for Franklin County, has been selected as a 2026 United Way of Virginia's Blueridge Leadership Hero!  This recognition is to honor individuals making a powerful impact across our region. 

The nominator of this award noted, "Alison is incredibly giving and kind. She has stepped up time and time again to offer her assistance, time, and resources to help neighbors in need. Whether it’s providing dog food and supplies or simply checking in, Alison is always there.  Her leadership and caring heart are unmatched."

During CMC's Nurses Week Carnival, OPX asked nursing staff to complete the prompt: “Something patients remember most about me is…”

Patients may not remember every detail of their stay, but they do remember how they were treated and how they felt. These responses say so much about the compassion, connection, and humanity our nurses bring to every interaction.

Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital Celebrates Madison White, RN  as the DAISY Award Winner 

I want to nominate RN Madison White - ICU of Franklin Memorial Hospital For an award.

Staff at Carilion Family Medicine in Giles joined in a surprise for co-worker Angela Ratcliffe. Angie's son, Alex, is scheduled for deployment this month with the US Marine Corp. 

Angie, please know we are always here to support you, and we are so appreciative of Alex and his passion for serving our country. Please keep Alex and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Happy Nurses Week to the incredible nurses who make a difference in the lives of patients and families every single day.  As the Western Region Patient Experience Advisor, I have the privilege of hearing our patient's stories and time and time again, it is the compassion, presence, kindness, and dedication that patients remember most.  Thank you for the countless ways you help shape the patient experience through every interaction, every act of compassion, and every moment you choose to go beyond the task to truly care for the person.
