Terry Allen not only saw a need, but stepped up in a major way!  A patient came in to the CRMH ED as a trauma and needed extended care while being hundreds of miles away from home.  Terry assumed responsibility for the patient's dog (Butch) for over a month!  Butch got to see and play in the snow for the very first time while here in VA.  Thankfully, Butch and his owner are now reunited and back home together.  I know Butch and his owner are grateful for your kindness and care Terry!  

Saul Gomez-Urrutia came to Peds GI and helped with a patient that could not speak English.  Pt was Spanish speaking and we could not get the IPAD to work or the interpreter line on the phone as kept saying they did not have any interpreters at this time then hang up on us.  Paul went out of his way to help us here in Peds GI.  Thank you Saul. 

Compassion and kindness does not go unnoticed! A patient called today to share a special  moment of thanks for Glenna Young, LPN. Commending her and stating "her bedside manner was over the top" and she "made my day". Thank you for your compassion Glenna! You are seen and appreciated!

In honor of Thank a Resident Day, Pet Pals volunteers came out early to spread a bit of love and relaxation at CRMH. Joining in the festivities were Pet Pals Tony and his Great Dane Trooper along with Shar and her Siberian Husky Argo! Volunteer Services sends a big THANK YOU to Carilion Clinic's dedicated residents - we appreciate you. 

My husband recently had a critical illness.

Linsey is one of the hardest working PCTs I have had the pleasure of working with. She is also so kind and caring towards her patients. Linsey goes above and beyond to see that her patients are safe and well cared for. 

I would like to recognize 2 co-workers who helped with an Alzheimer's patient.  Chris Johnson and Missy King at Tanglewood Mental Health.  They both volunteered to keep her company and to walk with her in the hallway while I assisted other patients with their care.  They volunteered on their own and kept me informed of the situation.  Thank you for being a pro-active and valuable part of the Carilion team!  Thank you for your help

Outstanding praise from a patient that called back to let us know that Kayla Blankenship, HAA, Tiffany, Sandifer, HAA and Dr. Tyler Willson took such considerate, professional, and compassionate care of her during her last visit. Thank you for displaying those Carilion Values!

The 7 mountain nurses brought a TAVR patient to the nurses station in a recliner chair to sit with them because she was confused and sad she wasn't back in her nursing home room. They found out she loved bingo so they printed bingo sheets and played a few rounds with her. They truly always go above and beyond! The structural heart team is lucky to have them taking care of our patients each week!

When one of our participants in our Rx exercise program was having a difficult physical health day, I grabbed some board games that we could play to engage his brain.  While I went to grab the board games, John set up a table and chairs for us to play in an area of the facility, knowing that was exactly what we needed.  Thanks, John, for everything you do around here at CW, but especially for the compassion and commitment you showed for this member.  #carilionproud
