I accompanied a loved one to the ED at CRMH recently and was so impressed with the kindness, compassionate care, and incredible communication we experienced with EVERY staff member we encountered. It was another crazy busy day in the ED -  we arrived with 46 people ahead of us on the roster and people were streaming in behind us. All the rooms were full, waiting room was full, people lined the halls, and providers were coming out to care for people in privacy nooks they could find in or near the waiting room.

Emily (RTA) in Interventional Radiology, went above and beyond for a patient and making sure he had everything that was needed for his procedure. Thank you for showing compassion to the patient and the family. 

Members of the CVI Revenue Operations team spent time volunteering at Morningside Urban Farm on June 27th. Volunteering at the farm is a great way to give back to the community and help others in need. A patient came to Velocity Care in Lexington. As the patient turned on the road towards Velocity Care she told me she heard a 'hissing' noise. She discovered she had a flat tire once she parked.

Chaz Ryder MOT at Velocity Care went out and changed her tire for her while she was being seen in the Velocity Care/Urgent Care.

Chaz Ryder efficiently changed the tire, despite it  also being 95 degrees outside.

  On the morning of June 21st 2024, Carilion Police Officer Morgan Witt was on patrol when a frantic gentleman flagged her down in front of RMH.  Inside his truck, his wife was in active labor and the child's head was visible.  Morgan jumped into action without hesitation and delivered a healthy baby boy!  Morgan was presented with the prestigious Life Saving Award by CPD Chief Ed Watkins.  We are very proud of her actions and no doubt this family will always remember the kind police officer who came to their rescue.

After a lengthy hiatus due to COVID, we were able to bring back our Carilion Children's Annual Pediatric Memorial Service to honor the children and the families we have cared for over the last several years. We held the service on Saturday June 8th on Mill Mountain. I want to give a huge shout out to my very supportive and energetic team who helped to bring this program back for our community. I could not have done this without all of you! My team showed compassion, commitment and collaboration throughout this process.

Amy Burks is the winner of the Daisy Award at Tazewell. Because of Amy's hard work and dedication, as well as her kindness and compassion, she was chosen as the recipient of this award. Amy was recognized by a family member of a patient, saying "Amy listened to the whole picture of what was happening to our daughter. She took time with her. She cared. We were so thankful for her." This is just one of the many times that Amy has displayed kindness and compassion to our patients. Amy puts her heart into her work, and it shows. Thank you, Amy, for the care you provide daily.

Dustin Greer, our site lead for EVS at CFMH stepped up to the plate and washed a patients clothing so that the patient could have clean clothes to wear home. Thank you Dustin for being you and for doing such a kind act for this patient.

Ryan transported one of our ER patients to an inpatient bed and was so kind. He assisted the patient and was so kind to the family as well. Thanks for being such a team player.
