"I would like to share a compliment received from a parent on Jessi Jenkins. She recently helped an athlete who was seen in our clinic for a concussion. The mom was extremely impressed with Jessi’s ability to go above and beyond and set her mind at ease and educate her about concussion treatment, time course of healing etc. She said she was an “angel”!

The Mental Health Therapists on the Inpatient Psychiatry Team in Roanoke, Va, wanted to celebrate Pride Month in style this year! The Team was challenged to dress in their most rainbow-riffic attire to wear on the units, and, to participate in a colorful potluck! CONNECT joined in on the fun, and, had some great colorful treats to share at this exciting event that surely brightened up the workday a bit. 

My kudos go to a Team which looks for creative ways to honor our passions while connecting with our patient population! :) 

I attended a BLS class last week and received a call from Beth Teller (from the training center) the next day asking if I lost something.  I realized the envelope of cash in my purse I had planned to deposit was gone, it had been pulled out when I got a drink at the vending machine before class!  When I described what the envelope contained, she told me how they (Beth, along with Brittany Wright and Essence Reynolds) found the envelope and enlisted the help of Security to go through security footage and see that it was me who had dropped it.  I am eternally grateful for these

  I would like to recognize our new Team Lead Anna Greene. She became our new lead a few months ago. Our department was truly struggling before her. Not only does she go above and beyond for the patients, but her team. I've watched her work numerous doubles because we're beyond short staffed. She is always there with a listening ear. She hears our concerns and actually goes above and beyond to do things to fix the issues. She has made so many positive changes to this dept. Before she joined our team, many of us was ready to walk. We were over worked and felt unheard. 

What you ladies did for this Salem resident was a very heart-felt, compassionate thing to do!

Kudos to the CCPT crew who accompanied a patient to the Glenvar High School Graduation ceremony on Wednesday, May 22nd. It was hot and muggy outside, but the great care you all provided the patient was noticed and appreciated by multiple families in the bleachers. Thank you for going above and beyond for our patients and being a wonderful representatives of Carilion! 

Peer Recovery Specialist Penny Shelton presented her mission, and important information about the Peer Recovery Program at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital.  Her compassion for helping others in her community and surrounding areas shows tremendously.  Thank you, Penny, for your commitment towards helping others.

Last week my son broke his arm, before leaving Urgent Care we had an appointment to see Dr. Zielinski. My son was very nervous for the appointment since he has never broken anything before. Dr. Zielinski was amazing--she put him right at ease, pulled up his xray and showed him exactly what was broke, educated him on his bones, growth plate, and how this break would affect his arm movement. After discussing what cast would work best for him and our upcoming vacation, she sent us to the casting room where Chloe applied the cast. She was also calming and thorough.

Amy Conforti of the ION outpatient therapy department made an excellent call recognizing changes in a patient's medical status. After identifying multiple red flags she referred the patient to the ED and the patient received prompt care likely saving the patient's life and preventing life altering deficits. Thank you Amy!
