I would like to acknowledge and say thank you to all the CS ICU staff, nurses, CNAs, RTs, PTs, and to Dr. Arnolds team for taking such good care of my mother during and after  her surgery.  Working in healthcare, you know we deal with these things everyday, but when its your family member, its a whole different ball game. I had to come back to work today and was so worried about leaving her alone over there, but the entire staff has been so wonderful and very helpful. Nothing you all did went unnoticed!

Stephanie's forethought and commitment to patient care made the job of the CCPT crew transporting one of her patients much easier. By anticipating patient needs and ensuring the patient's comfort prior to a long distance discharge she demonstrated compassion and ensured the transport went as smoothly as possible. She was personable and pleasant to both the patient and the CCPT transport crew.

On a recent visit to RMH due to my Father in Law's Heart failure our family was very impressed with Paige Conkling, one of the best, most impressive nurses we have ever encountered. She was super, knowledgeable and took the time to explain the situation, what had happened and what was going to happen not 1 time but at least 4 times as family members where coming in at different times. Paige has tremendous people skills and she made the families visit in this circumstance feel that he was in great hands and a plan was laid out.

Last week as I was leaving the cafeteria, I noticed a woman standing outside the "smart vending" area, looking a little lost. I asked if I could help her, and she replyed, "I just need a Dr. Pepper for my granddaughter, who just had a baby." I havn't used those machines and was trying to figure them out when Brittany McCollum with EVS came in to get herself something. I asked if she knew if the machines would take cash. She asked what we needed and then proceeded to scan her fingerprint and buy the Dr. Pepper. When the lady asked where to pay, Brittany told her not to worry about it.

Today at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital, we began what I hope to be an ongoing routine. During one of our morning huddles this week, I made a suggestion that I thought it would be good if we as leaders could show up on our Acute Care Services floor at lunch time and assist in handing out trays and helping patients and families with lunch. 

A huge thank you to Katie Rogers for all of her effort and dedication to our Pediatric patients! Katie goes above and beyond for her patients. We are so grateful for her and all that she does!

A BIG THANK YOU to the BEST co-workers ever! Thanks To Melissa Goad, Tammy Kalb, Josh, Alicia, and Savannah (working with Tammy) for helping me out with my very sick patient today. You helped with getting the blood, cleaning the patient several times and even mopping the floor. I could not have done this without you. THANK YOU!!!

On Christmas Day,  Christina Thomas RD, prepared  and brought our Christmas lunch to us.  We would like to say that this was a wonderful and selfless thing to do.  We really appreciated it and her company on Christmas Day.  Thanks Christina!!!

Environmental service's Patricia Welch brought cards with candy canes to ALL the patients and staff on 7S PCU on Christmas Eve. What an unexpected joy for patients and staff alike! Merry Christmas Patricia!

Lynn Reeves RN on Vascular ICU (6 MTN) brings fleece throws for all of VICU's patients on Christmas Eve every year. The patients wake up with the blankets and know Santa did not forget them in the hospital. The patients truly admire such a simple gesture. Merry Christmas!
