This biannual award is chosen from peer nominations for non-nursing staff members providing excellent, compassionate patient care. This is the first time I'm getting a chance to send this.  Approximately a month ago, I went in with a loved one who had to have a transesophageal procedure.  The first people I encountered were Roy Dillard and April Barnes.  Since I work here, they were familiar and friendly faces to me.  I knew my loved one would be taken care of.  At the time, Roy and April were trying to warm up to a brand new area since their department had moved.  Through all of that, they were compassionate, friendly, professional and courteous.  Sometimes, when you are an employee

CFMH took a big leap today with the roll out of their new hand hygiene program! The Hand Hygiene Team led by Pam Katt went all out to educate staff on hand hygiene using the FROG  approach. FROG stands for Friction, Rubs, Out, Germs. This new campaign has staff taking a pledge to perform hand hygiene for each of the 5 Moments of Hand Hygiene and holding others accountable for doing the same. Many thanks to Katrina Burda, Infection Preventionist at Giles / Tazwell for sharing her FROG approach.

I would like to recognize this wonderful lady! She came in on her day off to help her floor when she found out it was short staffed. She represented CommUNITY and compassion. She is also an amazing CTL she really cares about her staff and the patients on her floor.

Curtis Davidson went above and beyond! 

As I was standing in line at the pharmacy, I heard a lady concerned that she could not afford her medication.  Curtis stepped up and paid for this woman's medication without hesitation.  This selfless act touched my heart, as well as the woman he helped.

Juliane had a Hospice patient who wanted a sausage biscuit, Bo rounds, bacon and a drink from Bojangles, so she took the time to go get this for her patient and then took the time to feed it to her patient who could barely chew or swallow her food.  Juliane helped her knowing she could enjoy what little time she had left, and then helped her shower.  Juliane loves her patients and I know she has the commitment and caring for all her patients!

Please join us in congratulating St Albans February Employee of the Month, Yanisha Gonzelez. Yanisha is such a kind, respectful person, both towards staff and our patients. She is always ready to lend a helping hand and assist with our patients. Thank you, Yanisha for all you do.

Quinci Donahue ER nurse was nominated by two of her patients she cared for. She shows compassion and commitment to all her patients. Below is why her patients feel she is deserving of the Daisy Award:

We have the most wonderful people at CFMH. Our Pharmacy team took it upon themselves to go throughout the hospital and Medical Office Building and serve Hot Chocolate and donuts.They made a very cold and windy day warm and calm. Thank you Lori McClure and your CFMH Pharmacy team. You all are truly compassionate in every way.

Working in family medicine, we get a lot of sick people (as expected) and majority of them really need our help; some of which are from other facilities coming into our office as new patients. Ashley from Community Care calls to help set up these appointments and always, always carries a smile in her voice. It certainly makes the day go by much smoother. Even though I've never met her face to face, I can tell she is allowing her joy to expand to not only the patients, but the Carilion team as well.
