EVS Turndown Service

Submitted by lmbuschor on

I had the pleasure of shadowing the EVS Turndown Service last week and learned a great deal about their role and purpose.  The are specially trained in customer service and this was evident within a few minutes of meeting them.  Akeshia Angle, Adryanna Morris, and Sharon Burnette demonstrated our values by not only commitment to ensuring patient rooms were tidy and sanitized, but also compassion as they formed genuine and positive relationships with our patients.  Within a few moments of entering a room the patients would open up about their life, family, their stay

Our care coordinators gave above and beyond at Christmas

Submitted by amfarris on

This Christmas, a group of Care Coordinators gathered duffle bags and supplies for Pulaski DSS to give to children as they enter foster care. Many of these kids only have a few belongings in trash bags that they bring with them.  Now as a child enters care, they will have their own duffle bag with blanket, pj's, their own toiletries and a stuffed animal.  This was just one of the three projects we helped support.  I am thankful to be a care coordinator and proud of how we  represent Carilion's values so well.

Way to go Naldo Cruz!!!!!!!

Naldo Cruz, 9 Mountain PCU Environmental Services Technician, does the best job.  He is always friendly and goes the extra mile to really clean the patient rooms and unit.  I have seen him several times doing extra cleaning to help the unit be a cleaner environment.  The patients  love to see Naldo's smiling face and talk to him. Way to go Naldo!

Caring from the Heart

The lovely lady on the right is Missy White, RN, with Carilion Clinic Home Care in Tazewell. Recently, one of our home care patients had a serious problem because she was out of groceries, and the family member who usually takes her shopping was unable to do so. Missy came to the patient, and loaded her into her car, took her to the grocery store, helped her into the motorized scooter, assisted her in the store, took her back home, and even helped her to put away her groceries. She took the time to be sure her patient had all she needed. That is caring from the heart. Wow.

Jessica puts patient at ease

Jessica Ferguson, RN in pre-op was exemplary in taking care of a patient that was quite nervous to have a procedure done. She has had a complicated course of treatment, and she was understandably quite anxious about having another procedure. Jessica was very courteous and empathic. She complimented the patient on her looks and started to joke around with her, which really helped calm her down and she actually smiled. Thank you Jessica for making a very tough time for a patient a little bit happier!
