Guest Services Parking Attendant John Lucas recently had the opportunity to make a huge difference in the life of one of Carilion's pediatric oncology patients. During several treatment visits to the hospital prior to the holidays, John made such an impression on this child and his family that the parents made John a mug . It featured him and the child and read, "To my best friend, from your biggest buddy." The family also shared their appreciation through a card that stated, "Thanks for all the love you have shown my child and family.

Life-Guard Flight Crew Visits Carilion Children's for the Holiday!

Kudos to Fight Paramedic Jefferson Freed and Flight Nurses Miranda Landrum and Becky Dampeer for visiting Carilion Children's to sing Christmas Carols for them! We rarely get to see patients during their recovery phase. This was as much a joy for the flight crew as (we hope) it was to the pediatric patients!

Shoutout to some GREAT docs!

I had a very critical patient on Christmas Eve. This patient required 1:1 care for the majority of my shift. Dr. Chad Burton and Dr. Katie Howe were phenomenal and went above and beyond for my patient and for myself. I truly can not thank them enough for providing excellent care, and for their constant communication and support. Also, Dr. Barbara Beauchamp responded quickly when I had noticed some changes within the patient. I was fortunate to spend my Christmas Eve working with a GREAT group of doctors!

Don Crook rn, ED department. Don carried a baby in a heavy baby carrier to the car in the garage for the babies great grandmother, who was very frail. She didn't have any family available to help her with the heavy baby carrier and the baby. This was great customer service and very thoughtful and considerate.
