There are those people you meet and in an instant you are impressed with their inner spirit of compassion, Thomas Stinnett, of Guest Services would certainly one of these people working among us at Riverside 1 and 3.  On 7/6/2020, there was a young patient come into Riverside 1 with a hearing impairment that was not immediately caught by the screener, but Thomas was kind and quick to catch this in his compassionate manner.  He continued by writing the screening questions on paper, and helping to ease her apprehension.

Amado Ameh, RN Surgical Care CNRV came to help PACU with a CCU transport right at the end of his shift. We greatly appreciate his willingness take time from his busy schedule to help.

My patient was trying to sit on the edge of his bed, but was weaker than he thought.  His bed alarm went off and when I came in Cassandra, who had been cleaning, was reassuring the patient and reminding him to stay in bed until nursing staff arrived to help him.  Her thoughtful actions kept the patient from trying to stand up and possibly falling.  Thank you Cassandra for helping to keep our patients safe!

Dr. Cara Tillotson is a Pediatric Hospitalist who demonstrates love and care for her patients daily. Most agencies currently recommend the separation of COVID positive mothers and their newborn immediately upon delivery. Many moms choose otherwise, but our first patient to choose separation provided different challenges. While everyone on the unit worked logistically to make the separation happen and provide staffing to allow 1:1 care, Dr. Tillotson did more than just consider how difficult it must be for a new mom to make this choice.

Just wanted say thank you to Laura Joseph for being amazing at her job and for just being overall great person. She has excelled at her job and helped me out tremendously. Thanks Laura!

I want to highlight here the welcoming attitude from Anne Cattigan, 8 West unit director. As an international nurse, there are many challenges involving the transition from one country to another. I appreciate the way that she welcomed me and the other new RN's. It has been a huge learning experience to see the way that she leads the team, guiding her actions with a lot of collaboration, compassion and always very close to the staff and the patients. Proud to be led by her and to be part of this team!

I would like to recognize Monty Wright from Linen Services for emptying our dirty linen from the linen hampers around the PACU 4 south on the weekends.When he works he goes out of his way to empty the hampers.  We really appreciate how efficient and kind he is everyday he always greets us with a smile.

When a patient came to the office last Thursday 6/11/20, she had no idea CFM Radford on 701 Randolph St had their own AAA service "in house"!!  Lucky for her they did.  This unfortunate patient obtained a slow leak in her tire while in the office, to come out to a flat tire in the parking lot.    Although, while on her lunch break, a good samaritan came along.  Her name was Bethany Conroy.  She is the Lab Tech at CFM Radford.

Elizabeth Crane from TSG found my phone/wallet after it fell out of my bag. Thank you so much. We all rely too much on our phones today and I was extremely stressed after losing mine. Thank you again. She deserves a reward.
