We had a patient fall in the parking lot at ION today. I just wanted to recognize 3 individuals who I feel showed great compassion and care for this patient.
First is Amanda Bennington who attempted to catch the patient when they fell and did not leave her side until an ambulance arrived.
Kerry Lynne has a great deal of compassion! She is the unit manager for the progressive care unit at CNRV. She walked around the unit with a confused and combative patient. She helped keep her safe from falling and read the bible to the patient. She helped calm down the patient and helped avoid any more combative situations!
The Professional Recognition Council acknowledged Carilion's COVID 19 units, designated on July 31, 2020. We were honored to have Senior Executive Leadership participate and present during the ceremony.
The Heroes Among Us!
Cole Clark's compassion and skills surely made the day much brighter for a young physical therapy patient and her mother. Sharing, with permission from the mother, her comments.
Thank you to Carilion Children’s Safe Kids, CRMH 6 North & CCU, and others who helped to donate over 700 school bags filled with supplies for the Roanoke Rescue Mission’s annual Back 2 School Blast event.
I want to give a HUGE shout out to Alexis Greimel, BSN who continuously has given exemplary care to her patients, been a role model to her peers, colleagues, and represents Carilion's pillar value of COMPASSION as well as COMMITMENT. She is always giving a smile to her patients, she spends time talking to the patient and answering their questions. She is committed to our 9S PCU team and always is jumping in to help anyone who needs it. Thank you Alexis!!!
James Sehen, works in Same Day Surgery and was awarded the Daisy Award, June and July he was nominated by two different families. Thank you, James, for your compassion and dedication. Here is what they had to say.
My mother was recently diagnosed with cancer and was admitted to 10 South Oncology floor. She wanted me to pass along that as a nurse herself for over 35 years, she received the best care she had ever seen from a hospital! She said it wasn't just one person, it was the entire staff. My daughter who is a nursing student stayed with her one day and was so impressed she is seriously considering Oncology as her career path. Thank you to the entire staff!
