I would like to thank Dr. Eduardo Lara-Torre for stopping to help two patients in the lobby when he didn't have to. This couple only spoke Spanish and they were being screened to go to labor and delivery. As Dr. Lara-Torre was coming in for his shift he noticed that the couple was having trouble understanding the screening questions being asked of them. Dr. Lara-Torre stopped and translated between the couple and the screeners and once he got to the Labor and Delivery floor he got a nurse to come down and get the couple and escort them to where they needed to be. It's doctors like Dr.

Leann talked with a patient in preparation for a surgery that would not allow her to walk for days post op. The patient expressed she didn't have help readily available to pitch in and be of assistance once she got home. Leann took the time to call the patient's insurance and found out she had a benefit that would allow her some home health assistance. We are very proud of Leann for her compassion and curiosity in helping this patient tap into this resource aiding to achieve a successful recovery!

At a time like this little actions and acts of compassion for your fellow workers can mean so much. 9/16/2020 as I was attempting to respond to multiple calls on our busy COVID unit, as I rounded the corner with my WOW the box containing all of my supplies fell spilling all of the contents all over the floor. Dr.'s Clint Chivone and Nathan Dewey were standing nearby and quickly responded. They offered words of encouragement and empathy as they assisted me in retrieving all of my supplies that were scattered all over the floor.

My cousin has been in the hospital for a while and was transferred to 8 SPCU. My other cousin had visited her and said her hair had so many knots. The next night I get a picture of my cousin and her hair being beautiful and straight. I called the nursing station and asked to speak to her nurse I told her how much I appreciated whoever took the time to get those knots out of her hair because I know how busy it is and it meant the world to me for to take the time to do this. She told me that she did this. This means more to me then she will ever know.

We all have times we have to see things "from the other side".  My mother was here.  I had called my mom and her speech was slurred and garbled.  She could not talk to me.

I would like to commend Lisa Dooley RN  LC,  Catherine Dinardo RN, and other Mother Baby staff that worked on 9/13/2020 for a wonderful thing they did for a patient.     We had a patient who had preexisting conditions prior to the birth of her baby.  She was going to have more surgeries and treatments after discharge, as well as her infant going to NICU unexpectedly.     We found out that it was her Birthday.

One of our patients recently celebrated her 86th birthday while in the hospital with COVID. Ashley was seeing her this day and happened to notice it was her birthday and that she would be celebrating alone and in the hospital. Ashley brought in a card for our team to sign and a birthday balloon for this patient! I thought this was such a nice gesture and shows what compassion she has for others! The patient was delighted and I know it brought a smile to her face to know she was being thought of on her special day.

Aretha always cares for people with compassion and is a hard worker who goes above and beyond for her patients. A valuable asset to our unit (6South OPS) and health system!! Today she did extra work by helping the visitor of a patient that was having issues.
