Giles ED First Tele Neuro Consult

Submitted by cmfontaine on

I’m so proud of our team! We recently had first tele neuro consult. The ED was busy and everyone pulled together to assist so nursing staff could learn and work through the uncertainty. Ann Jimenez, RN  was a rockstar as she assisted with the assessment! Candace Black, LPN worked on admissions. Tammy Via, Patient Representative helped the physician set up home oxygen for another patient while nursing staff were busy. Joe Shortt, RN took over triage so the charge nurse could help with this new process. Caroline Hicks, CA (the glue that holds us all together) was helping everyone.

CAUTI Reduction Celebration Across Carilion

Submitted by ailucas on

This morning we held a celebration that recognized individuals and units across the organization that have achieved or contributed to our reduction in catheter associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) at Carilion Clinic. Units recognized were those with zero infections, lowest use of indwelling urinary catheters (which decreases risk!), and with most improvement. Individuals across the organization were nominated by members of the CAUTI committee as champions for the cause. We awarded certificates to the providers with most votes in each facility and have named them all here.

After seeing a patient in the ER and knowing the patient needed several proper follow ups. I was able to run over and see Rebecca Riddle in Rocky Mount Family Practice. We worked together to get a patient seen as soon as possible. With Rebecca’s willingness to collaborate with the community health worker the patient was able to get a new patient appointment in 4 days! Team work makes the dream work!
