I just have to give a shout out to Eden T. Buchan with the Cardiology Dept in Roanoke. Starting from connecting with her on Teams she has always been so helpful!!! I feel like I have generated a connection and friendship with someone I have never met!!! If she could be doubled, tripled, etc start molding now!! If anyone knows her, share this a give her a big ole hug! She is wonderful, and deserves the recognition!!

Recently we had a recruitment event offsite at The Franklin Center. Ronnie called me from the hospital, he had someone that had WALKED in the rain to the hospital looking for the event. Ronnie drove her to the recruitment event to ensure she made it before the event ended!

Congratulations to our Attending Physicians and Residents on their 48-44 win over the VTC Medical Students at the 11th annual "Docs for Morgan" basketball game Wednesday night. "Docs for Morgan" raises money for the Morgan Dana Harrington Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in Morgan's memory after she was murdered in 2009. Morgan was the beloved daughter of Dr. Dan Harrington and his wife, Gil. Thank you to everyone in the community who supports this event and the volunteers who make it possible.

The Sustainability Department recently launched the Greening the Office Certification program. To apply for this certification, departments must complete a robust application that asks for information, examples and details on how the office is promoting and engaging in sustainable practices in the following categories: Energy, Air & Water, Waste & Recycling, Transportation, and Employee Engagement. Offices achieve either Silver or Gold level certification, depending on their score.  

Many thanks to PAFR Ursula Moore for her tireless assistance and work as it relates to the Utilization Management Team. She goes above and beyond every day. Ursula always takes time to respond to our immediate needs and she does so with such a professional attitude; she is always eager to help. She exemplifies what it means to COLLABORATE! MRI had a day around Christmas that we were very short staffed. The outpatients typically are easier to get in and out, but this particular day was anything but easy. The 2 MRI Technologists were getting overwhelmed and behind and the CT staff jumped right in.

Sam Franklin and Janet Conner were so helpful and didn't think twice about helping out.

Janet was able to stay in MRI and interview patients, start IVs and get them changed. With her back ground in MRI, she was able to keep the schedule running and keep them on time.

A huge thank you to Jodie Hamelin and Christie Weaver from 8 M PCU who are super helpful and are always willing to help with all the patient's needs . They answer call bells , phones, take trays and help with any and all patients' needs without hesitation! It is always a relief to know we have such great team players on this team!!

Bev Stover, a hospitalist coder here at Carilion Clinic was recently appointed to the national Board of Directors of the American Academy of Professional Coders!  She will be the representative for the Mid-Atlantic region that covers VA, WV, KY, NC and SC.  Bev is the president of our local Roanoke Chapter of AAPC and works tirelessly to provide educational and networking opportunities for local members, and now she will be collaborating with others on a national level to guide AAPC into the future.  (As evidenced by the photo, Bev is also so fun to collaborate with...always

The CRMH 7 South PCU nursing staff, unit director, the transfer center staff and Dr. Bloomfield (palliative care team) went the the extra mile this week to ensure a dying couple were roomed together. Thank you for your willingness to advocate for our patients and work together to support the last precious moments for this family.
