The Women's ERG (Employee Resource Group) hosted several events throughout 2023 including Heart Health, Breastfeeding Awareness, and Breast Cancer Awareness. A discussion panel with Jeanne Armentrout provided guidance on navigating today's leadership as women. The Women's ERG's mission statement is "To provide support, promote collaboration, foster inclusivity, encourage development, and serve as a voice for women and their supporters."  The ERG plans to make their way across the Carilion network again this year hosting impactful initiatives for women as they go.

The Occupational Health clinic on McDowell Avenue recently experienced a power outage and loss of telephones.  The HAA staff quickly coordinated with the other Occupational Health clinic at CRCH to reroute scheduled patients, even using their personal phones.  All patients were contacted, seen, and cared for because of the excellent teamwork between the staff and providers at both clinics.  Rachel Carter, RN CTL, even guided a non-English speaking family of three in her car to the other location to make sure their appointments were completed!  I'm incredibly proud of thi

CRBH would like to recognize two RNs, Summer Snider and Dakota Slick for their recent Great Catch. While caring for a being transferred to higher level of care in the ICU, both nurses recognized that documents that belonged to different patient had been scanned into their patient's chart over a year ago. We greatly appreciate both of these nurses for their hard work, dedication, and attention to detail while caring for their patients! 

The celebration was an invitation-only event sent inside a holiday card to each employee's home. Environmental services teams from Roanoke Memorial, Franklin Memorial, Community Hospital, Carilion Rehab, and the Carilion Administrative Services received invitations. Over 230 people visited the event throughout the evening, where they were offered food and fellowship throughout the evening, catered by local food vendors.

For several years, paper ornaments sprinkled with glitter hung on the lone Lights of Love tree at CRMH. That seems unimaginable when you see the wide-ranging creativity on the hand-painted wooden ornaments now adorning the beautiful trees at CRMH and, for the first time, CNRV and CFMH. This year, three Guest Services employees and a class of high school artists collaborated with Volunteer Services to paint the ornaments that pay tribute to Lights of Love honorees.

The NICU needed 15 MRSA swabs and I had called every pediatric unit in the hospital. Finally as a last resort I called the Pediatric ED and Rhiannon answered the phone. She was very friendly and was finally able to help us out! She went looking for some swabs and saved the day! Her positive attitude and her effort to help out another unit did not go unnoticed and was greatly appreciated! Thank you Rhiannon!!!

Our local Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce provides a year long Leadership Academy in which participants learn about other businesses in Franklin and Bedford 
County. Participants interact with other business leaders, work on team projects, take field trips to local establishments and represent their own agencies by their participation. CFMH is allowed to have a member of our own leadership team participate in this academy as well. 

If you have been to CNRV in the last few years you have likely noticed the large red house for collecting aluminum can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.  It was built and installed at the suggestion of a Carilion employee and is offered as a collection point for staff and community members.  Last week, with the support of CNRV Maintenance, we did our third clean out – and CNRV collected 235 POUNDS of aluminum tab tops!  The tabs were boxed and taken to the Ronald McDonald House in Roanoke.  From there they will be recycled,
