New Scale to Assess Aggression in Inpatient Mental Health Pediatric Patients

Submitted by bjlawson on

Over the last couple of months, the teams have been at work implementing and coordinating use of a new scale, the Dynamic Appraisal of Situational Aggression Youth Version (DASA-YV). This is so that we can regularly assess and measure aggression for our Carilion Mental Health Child and Adolescent Inpatient patients (Rehab 3). This is now implemented, built into the Epic nursing shift assessment flowsheets, and also set up to automatically display these latest scores on Teletracking for staff to visually see the levels on the unit.

Thank you Virtual Care Center!

Submitted by aphillips on

10 West has been fortunate to work closely with the Virtual Care Center from day one as a collaborative effort to provide safe patient care and we consider their team a part of our team even though they are not physically on the unit or in the building. Today we received an in person visit from some members of their team. Virtual Care Center "adopted" 10 west as part of their holiday project and collected a variety of items for patients including activity books, puzzles, and fidgets. We are so appreciative! Thank you, Jennifer Handy and Wanda Roberston and all of the Virtual Care Center!
