Carilion Dental Second Annual Super Smile Savers Event!

Carilion Clinic Dental, in collaboration with Carilion Children's Pediatrics and Carilion Community Health, held its second annual Super Smile Savers event on Saturday, February 8th from 9-12PM. Volunteers provided free dental evaluations, sealants, SDF and Fluoride varnish applications to children ages 6-16 at the event, in a fun, carnival environment.

We came together as volunteers from multiple different communities, including here at Carilion Dental, Carilion Pediatrics, Community Health Workers, community pediatric dental providers, hygiene students with Virginia Western Hygiene, and the pre-dental club at Virginia Tech. We also received donations of food and supplies from several generous corporate sponsors. Thanks to you all, we saw a total of 69 kids, had an almost 80% show rate, and brought together 81 volunteers! There was food distributed from LEAP, games and demos for children to play, surveys to identify oral health needs, and face painting. It was so good to see us come together as a community - we couldn't have done it without you!
