I greatly appreciate Patient Representative Kathy Loomis. Loomis helped the Emergency Department greatly today in helping assist a gentleman get a ride back home to Lexington, Virginia. Loomis has a positive attitude and a helpful nature in assisting in several problems that occur in the emergency room on a daily basis. Loomis is a role model for staff behavior in her interactions with the general public as well as her coworkers.

Commitment

Many times, our complex care team Social Workers are tasked with challenges of long length of stay patients. Shiquita Scott recently was working with a patient that had been here for an extended period of time and was very complex. After overcoming numerous obstacles, the patient was able to discharge safely. Shiquita established a rapport with the patient and family so she came to the unit for the send off of this patient.. The patient was in tears to finally be able to leave.

I wanted to give a shout out to Han Huynh, NA, who works on 10 West. She was outstanding and was quick thinking when we had an incontinent patient and was in the room changing the sheets multiple times. She is caring and a wonderful coworker! I appreciate all her hard work!

10 south to the rescue!

When blood banks tube system was down on a Saturday and we in the infusion center needed multiple units of blood to treat our patients. (There are only two nurses on Saturdays and we cannot leave one alone). We called 10 south and they did not even hesitate to send two people down to the blood bank for us to get our blood so that we could continue to treat our patients! Thank you so much Donna and Anna! We appreciate yall and everyone on 10 south for consistently helping us out at the infusion center.
