Laura Roberts became the manager of CDI at a time of great change. 

She has demonstrated remarkable strength in the face of adversity here at work and at home. 

Our department is now more fully recognized than ever before. Her attitude has always remained positive, helpful and friendly. She has coordinated major changes that have made our department more functional and improved collaboration that has increased employee morale.  She encourages all of her staff to give their selves grace. 

Carilion Children's Quality Celebrations

In April, Carillion Children's celebrated several major milestones in HAI prevention.   Thanks to the diligent efforts of these amazing teams!  The goal of Zero Patient Harm drives everything we do. Hospital Acquired Infection reduction has been a primary focus for Carilion Children's. The staff have consistently provided exceptional patient care to reduce the risk of a patient getting a HAI.   Here are their achievements:

Congratulations to Gayle Campbell, RN in the CRMH Emergency Department, on winning an Outstanding Preceptor Award! Members of the Nursing Center of Excellence along with NPIFs and Transition to Nursing Practice presented the award to Gayle beside her unit leadership and ED nursing team.

Congratulations to Larra Newcomb, RN, on CRMH 10MPCU on winning and Outstanding Preceptor Award! Members of the Nursing Center of Excellence along with NPIFs and Transition to Nursing Practice presented the award to Larra beside unit leadership and 10MPCU nursing team. Not only is Larra an Outstanding Preceptor Award winner, she has also recently received a Daisy award--what a superstar!!

CVI Provides Education at 3rd Annual CST Safety Fair

The 3rd Annual Safety Fair was held for the workers at the Crystal Spring Tower construction site.  Carilion Clinic's Cardiovascular Institute enjoyed sharing cardiovascular health information, checking blood pressure, and teaching hands-only CPR. This event has identified high blood pressure in individuals so that they can receive needed care.
