October 20-26, 2024, we celebrate and recognize Carilion's 300+ pharmacy professionals engaged in patient care.  Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians are invaluable to the patient care team and whether they are managing a drug shortage, immunizing the public, taking medication histories, prescribing, dispensing, or consulting on therapies, our team can be found in all aspects of patient care and can be found driving the most cost-effective therapies to improve the health of the communities we serve.

The 4 South PACU - ThankFall Spirit Week

The 4 south PACU enjoyed yet another Spirit Week! During the week of September 29th through October 4th PACU had our ThankFall Spirit week. Staff had treats throughout the week and a different theme each day. On that Friday we enjoyed an ORS Hotdog Tailgate!  In PACU we get excited about our spirit weeks. 😊

Hurricane Helene affected several of our central sterile units within the Carilion Giles Community Hospital and Carilion New River Valley Hospital Central Sterile Department, mandating a boil-water procedure for several weeks.

The Logistics Team has worked relentlessly to locate resources and move surgical instruments across the organization to and from CGCH, CNRV, CRCH, CRMH, CFMH, CRBH around the clock 7 days a week to ensure safety and service to our communities alike. 

Supply Chain Week

Supply chain week is Oct 6th-12th and we would like to take the time to thank and recognize the impactful work our Carilion Corp Warehouse team does every day to keep the Carilion facilities going with needed supplies to give our patients the best care possible.Through many unprecedented times,our team is always ready to rise to the occasion and find a way to overcome obstacles.

Great Catch by Kathleen Strickland, P.A. @ CRBH

CRBH would like to recognize Kathleen Strickland, P.A. for a recent Great Catch.  A patient was initially complaining of left shoulder pain, and the daylight NP ordered an EKG and the appropriate lab work.  Kathleen later came on night shift, and showed commitment by completing a thorough assessment on the patient and discovering that the patient's abdomen was severely distended.  Appropriate imaging was ordered and a pseudo-obstruction was discovered.  Kathleen and Dr.
