Injuries and Violence both rank within the Top 5 causes of morbidity and mortality for all individuals according to the CDC. In fact, unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death for people ages 1-44. These have PREVENTABLE causes. In fact, trauma care does not begin when a person comes to the ED, and it doesn't end when they are discharged.

Injury prevention professionals are vital to providing care, advancing injury prevention initiatives, and serving as key members of our pediatric trauma team! Today we wanted to share our appreciation and support for the work that they do each day to make things safer for children and their families within our community. Thank you, Jill, Kathy and Cheyenne, for helping to keep kids safer here at Carilion Children's and in our communities!

Spirit Week for the CNRVMC Dining Team

For Nurse's Week, CNRVMC did a Spirit Week to celebrate all the amazing work done throughout our hospital. The Dining Team really went all out in the fun theme's each day. One of our lead's, Justine, took photos and created a board to share the spirit with everyone in the kitchen. Patients really enjoyed the outfits and smiles our Tech's brought to their rooms by a Disney tutu or a wacky shirt! Our team in the cafe kept up spirits for visitors, employees and family as well joining in on the week's fun. We are proud to be Carilion!

Dedication to patient welfare

Ben Holdren and Acy Collins stayed over on a shift to transport a critical patient that needed prompt transport, despite having had a long and difficult day already.  If they had not, there would have been a dangerous delay in transport.  Many thanks to them both for their constant dedication to patient care!

Celebrating 20 Years CAUTI & CLABSI Free at the CNRVMC Birthplace!

CNRVMC Birthplace staff were recognized and celebrated for an extraordinary milestone this week- 20 years without a single CAUTI or CLABSI case. This achievement reflects decades of commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence and the delivery of exceptional care to mothers and newborns in our community. It's a testament to the power of teamwork and dedication to evidence-based practice.
