Jennifer Cassidy, RN is celebrating a HUGE milestone!  She has been employed with Carilion for 35 years!! Jennifer is currently a Clinical Coordinator in the Heart Failure Clinic in Roanoke. We are so very appreciative of Jennifer's dedication and commitment to patient care. Congratulations, Jennifer, on reaching this milestone. 

The 2025 theme for EMS week is “We care. For everyone.”  This year’s EMS week theme underscores the universal mission of EMS: to provide compassionate care to our communities with unwavering dedication.

A small bird was trapped in the mesh/netting in the ceiling near the receiving entrance at CRBH.  The CRBH maintenance department was contacted and they came to the rescue to free the bird that was panicking.   Dylan Argenbright freed the trapped bird. Great job guys!

Walter received the BEE award for his team work and excellent patient care through his commitment to throughput

"Walter has done exceptional since coming to our unit. He is always looking for ways to stay busy and keeps our unit looking clean and tidy. He will always lend a helping hand and does his job with a smile on his face. He is proactive and helps us have timely turnovers." 

This past Saturday, 754 student athletes from 32 different area schools were able to get their pre-season sports physical at ION in preparation for the upcoming school year. We had staff, providers and residents from Orthopaedics, Family Medicine, Physical Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pulmonology, Adolescent Medicine, and Geriatric Medicine work this event. Thank you to all who worked this event. Providing this many sports physicals is no small feat, and it is amazing to have dedicated employees and providers come together to support these student athletes.

Go behind the scenes! Dr. David Salzberg recently took part in interviews and video shoots to help announce the exciting launch of our newly approved Kidney Transplant Program. Transplants are set to begin in 2026. Learn more at CarilionClinic.org/kidney.

Last week the staff on the pediatric floor celebrated Lesley Ramey RN who has been with Carilion 35 years! She has and continues to play a huge role on the pediatric floor. We are so thankful for her knowledge and expertise when caring for our pediatric population. Lesley is an advocate for not only her patients, but others as well. She is called upon frequently for her expert assessment and IV skills. She is a certified pediatric nurse and maintains her competency in pediatric chemotherapy administration.

One of our patients in the Carilion Clinic Medical Bariatric Department nominated our very own Dr. Self with United Ways 100-Hero Project and she was selected.
