Car styles come and go, but valet attendant Russell Simpkins is a steady presence at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.
For 13 years, Russell has parked the vehicles of hospital patients and guests. Recently, one of those folks sent a piece of deserving fan mail about Russell to Hospital Administrator and Vice President William Flattery.
Infection Preventionists (IPs) from Ronaoke, New River, and Franklin came together this past Saturday to provide hand hygiene education at two community events sponsored by Carilion CVI and Compress and Shock.
Patchouli was awarded two great catch awards for her persistent dedication to patient safety.
First Great Catch:
Patchouli was taking care of patient that had multiple new medications ordered for them. Patchouli questioned MD via PerfectServe as there was no current indication for these medications to be given, and no lab work drawn yet. He confirmed that these were entered in error. MD discontinued the medications. Great Catch Patchouli!
Second Great Catch:
We would like to congratulate CNRVMC’s latest Bee Award winner, ADonna Summers, OTA! Not only is ADonna being celebrated for her exceptional care, but she is also celebrating 30 years with Carilion!! Here are what patients had to say about ADonna:
“ADonna has been our ray of sunshine during our stay at the hospital.”
“She brings that extra sparkle.”
“A hard worker.”
Carilion Clinic Adolescent Medicine's Health Educator, Brooks Michael, delivered age-appropriate Family Life Education to 3,400 students in 22 different schools in Roanoke County, Roanoke City, and Salem City. This is the most students we have reached with education in one school year!
Health education was also delivered in several community settings such as Community Youth Program and Goodwill Youth Headquarters throughout the year.
Tim Meadows at CTCH Maintenance recently resolved numerous requests for the Physical Therapy department. Requests were placed daily within the same week. He reacted promptly, sometimes on the spot, resolving issues that prevented injuries. Tim has the best attitude. Always efficient and with a smile. We appreciate his kindness and promptness to serve.
