Great Catch Award CNRV x2 Patchouli Emmons

Patchouli was awarded two great catch awards for her persistent dedication to patient safety.

First Great Catch:

Patchouli was taking care of patient that had multiple new medications ordered for them. Patchouli questioned MD via PerfectServe as there was no current indication for these medications to be given, and no lab work drawn yet. He confirmed that these were entered in error. MD discontinued the medications. Great Catch Patchouli!

Second Great Catch:

The lab had called a critical result to Patchouli (patients labs prior had been normal). In addition, another patient had a similar critical lab that was called five minutes after Patchouli received the initial phone call. Patchouli questioned the lab as this seemed odd, and asked to re-run the lab. The lab reported that there was no change, so they had phlebotomy come to the floor and redrawn the labs on both patients. The lab values on the new blood draw were both normal.
