Staff, patients, and visitors at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH) and The Institute for Orthopaedics and Neurosciences (ION) have collected a total of 136.5 pounds of soda can tabs for recycling. 

• CRMH - 56.2 pounds 
• ION - 80.3 pounds 

These tabs are donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Virginia to recycle, and the funds generated are used to fund the operations of the house. You can learn more about the Ronald McDonald house here: https://www.rmhc-swva.org/

I was proud and honored to visit with the teams at each of our 7 VelocityCare locations on Christmas day.  The teams were universally positive and welcoming to their incredibly grateful patients.  Thank you to every Carilion Clinic employee who works a holiday shift this season!

I wanted to give a big shout out to the Anticoagulation team today who assisted working in one of my Cardiothoracic Surgery patients despite their busy schedule with the upcoming holidays! Thank you for your dedication and all the work you do to ensure our patients receive timely, safe care!

Lori Compton, one of Orthopaedic's Advice Line Nurses, had an unsuspecting phone call with a simple medication question. Lori began to ask probing questions to learn the underlying desire for changing the dosage of the medication.  After thorough triage she learned the patient had multiple syncopal episodes without any prior concerning history. Lori immediately identified the need for further assessment even though the patient attributed her symptoms to her medication question.

Kayla Harris went above and beyond in fulfilling her role of relief charge in the CNRV ED on 12/10/25!  The department experienced high volume with many high acuity patients that night, but Kayla ran the shift smoothly (especially considering most of the staff here that night was made up of new-grad nurses)!

I just wanted to take this moment to Thank this team for their tremendous work . This is the FCM Quality team that takes care of supporting the practices with vital patient information. This year this team helped to get 4 quality metrics from red to green also entering external results and many pilot projects. This team has shown all of the Carilion values and I am proud to be a part.
