For the third year in a row, our President and CEO Nancy Howell Agee has been named one of Modern Healthcare's Most Influential People in Healthcare for 2018.

The 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare awards and recognition program honors individuals who are chosen by their peers and the journal's senior editors as the most influential people in the health care industry in terms of leadership and impact.

The internationally recognized Forum for Shared Governance announced it has awarded shared governance accreditation to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Shared governance is an innovative management model ensuring nurses are the ones making clinical decisions at the bedside, while authorizing them to influence the resources that support them.

CRMH was recently ranked fourth in Virginia for hospitals and services by U.S. News & World Report. In addition, five adult specialties and six adult procedures/conditions were ranked as high performing.

Becker’s Hospital Review has named Carilion Clinic as one of “52 Great Health Systems to Know” in 2018.

The health systems featured on this list strive to provide high-quality patient care and grow programs beneficial to their communities. Many of these health systems cover several hospitals, physician groups, urgent care clinics and rehabilitation centers. Amy Westmoreland, Pharmacy Manager at CGCH and David Vance, Pharmacy Manager at CTCH were honored in April as “Preceptors of the Year” by students at the Appalachian College of Pharmacy.

Becker’s Hospital Review recognized CRMH as one of “100 great hospitals in America” in 2018.

Hospitals included on this list have been recognized nationally for excellence in clinical care, patient outcomes, and staff and physician satisfaction.

They are industry leaders that have achieved advanced accreditation and certification in several specialties. The list also includes industry innovators that have sparked trends in health care technology, hospital management and patient satisfaction.

At its annual meeting, the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA) recognized NL Bishop, D.Min, President of Jefferson College of Health Sciences, with the Meritorious Service Award. 

Jonathan Gleason, M.D., Vice President of Clinical Advancement and Patient Safety and Section Chief for Urogynecology, and Ashish Raju, M.D., surgeon with Vascular Surgery and Chair of Surgery at CNRV, were named Rising Stars in Healthcare by Our Health magazine.

They are two of nine health care professionals in the Roanoke and New River Valleys who were recognized for making a positive impact on others in the medical industry as well as their patients and families.
