Dayna Tirado and Sharon Holt from the MRI Mobile Unit were willing to stay over to make sure a patient in need received a necessary scan. On Friday, November 2nd in the afternoon, the MRI team notified the CSJH ED that they were wrapping up their day and wanted to make sure their services were no longer needed. The ED stated they were working up a young woman and were waiting on the results of a CT scan and were not certain. Without hesitation Dayna waited for the results of the scan and ultimately provided MRI services to her.

We had a baby on the pediatric unit that needed a special formula.  It was ordered to be shipped overnight.  The shipment was delayed due to a problem with the airplane.  Greg Holcomb (Materials Management) was able to track the formula to the Dublin UPS site, he made arrangements to have it pulled off the UPS truck and delivered to us by Stan White (Materials Management).  We greatly appreciate the dedication these men gave to make sure our baby got the proper formula, especially since it was their day off.

The Wellness and Departmental Innovation Shared Governance Committee for CTaC decided to allow Halloween costumes to be worn in the center this year. Below you will see how happy Director Charles Suba was to interact with one of his employees. This decision helped raise the morale in a very high stress area. The committee will continue to look for more ways to help with morale and stress levels in the center.

On Monday the 29th, the CCPT Dispatch Center received a call from an inpatient floor requesting help recovering a patient's wheelchair. The patient was originally transported to CRMH by CCPT from Community Care, but his wheelchair and belongings had to be left at Community Care. When he heard of the issue, Zach Doran, a CTL with the CCPT Roanoke Division, sprung into action and went to Community Care to obtain the wheelchair and belongings and deliver them to the patient's bedside.

This is a shout out to Doug Anderson and David Bowers of the Health Analytics Team! They showed true commitment by prioritizing a report request we submitted with a tight deadline. This report has an impact on the financial opportunities we have under Performance & Quality Improvement, as well as, reducing the amount of manual work we would have to complete without this report. I can always count on this team to support us and to use their skills/knowledge to produce what we need on the first attempt. If any adjustments need to be made, they are quick to respond.

I am always impressed how well the pharmacy team works together at CNRV. Regardless of the busyness of what they do; every staff member is smiling, laugh, and working together to take care of our community and patients. Many of them will take the time to speak to you and make it more of the exchange than a transaction. They also go out of their way to help patients bridge the gap when it comes to payments of medication. They do this by finding patients discount cards and coupons to help the patient in need. Keep up the work team.

I would like to say “thank you” to our Shuttle Team who operate the On-Demand shuttle service. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this service, Guest Services provides transportation for Carilion employees to HR, CASB, TSG, Parkview and Materials Management.

Last week I received an email from a community member who had contacted Carilion Direct to ask if we had or were planning to add patient comments along with the provider star ratings on CarilionClinic.org. She was put in touch with Cathy Miles who oversees that particular project for us. Apparently, Cathy made an incredible impression, earning Carilion a new patient. Here’s just some of what our new patient said:

Award winners were selected from a record number of nominations as one of Virginia's outstanding young registered nurse (RN) leaders, because of achievements in professional practice, leadership, and positive promotion and advancement of the nursing profession beyond the practice setting.
