I would like to commend Sharday Rosser in the Imaging Department at Crystal Springs for being alert and taking immediate action when a patient arrived that had been registered under the incorrect name. She immediately contacted Patient Access and had the situation corrected. Had she not, this could have been a very serious situation. Way to Go Sharday!

The Teaching Excellence Academy for Collaborative Healthcare (TEACH) has developed annual teaching awards that are presented to selected winners at our annual TEACH Education Day Posters, Recognition, and Awards Reception. This year, our reception was held on October 24 and five well deserving faculty members received the honor of being our new 2018 TEACH Award Winners. Each of the winners exemplify the criteria that was outlined for each award and consummately epitomize the values and characteristics of exemplary educators.

Thank You so much to our Director of Nursing Veronica Stump and our Resource Nurse/Supervisor Vicki Conner for coming to down to Med Surg and helping with vital signs and blood sugars this morning.  We had 2 RN's out sick and had our aide sitting a 1:1.  Both jumped in and ask what they could do and did vital signs, blood sugars and bathroom rounds.  This is not uncommon for either of them to help out but so often it is overlooked.  We just want to make sure you both know just how much you are appreciated.

As we work our way into the week of Thanksgiving I am reminded of a job well done by our Reporting Analytics Team, specifically Melissa Cash! She helped us rework our supplement reports those persons working in the Diet offices around the organization.

I just wanted to pass on some much deserved Kudos to some of our staff. We had a handful of call outs tonight and I just wanted to give credit where credit was due. Doug Hundley, Amanda Fields, Ashley Philpott, Ellen Tanner and Anita Cromer all stayed late and helped us get through first rounds which was MUCH APPRECIATED!

Ashley Rosser (Child Outpatient Psychiatry) took the initiative to raise concerns for both staff and patient safety, even knowing that it may upset others. Ashley had been working with our manager to get a broken glass check out window fixed. They had worked on this two weeks ago, with no resolve. The glass could have easily cut children and the window could have even fallen in on Ashley herself, or fallen back on a child patient. Ashley communicated her concerns with upper management and the manager of Maintenance. The issue was resolved in a day.
