Please join us in congratulating Dr. Milena Staykova and  the Master of Science in Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) faculty on their students achieving  100% pass rate on the National FNP Certification Exam.

More impressively, the 2018 FNP Cohort scored above the national average overall  as a group and on two of the three testing domains administered on the exam. So, when you see them around, please give them a high five for a job well done!

At their annual conference on January 19, 2019, at the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) presented several awards to it's members in recognition of their exceptional service, achievement and/or leadership within the chiropractic profession.

Among those receiving awards was Robert Vining, DC, of Davenport, Iowa, who was named the ACA Academician of the Year.

I would like to recognize Darcell Witcher and Todd Armstrong, MRI Technologists, for maintaining safety in the MRI department during the care of a critical ventilated trauma patient.  There were more staff in MRI than usual due to shift change of those caring for the patient requiring heightened awareness of the MRI Technologists. 

Sunday evening in Annex B was challenging at best.  I had some awesome support with a very agitated, complicated, and critically ill patient.  With the help of these individuals, a potential distressing situation for both staff and patient, resulted in a swift ICU transfer and positive patient outcome.  I don’t know everyone’s last name and I apologize if I miss a name (because there were so many involved).

My patient needed to go to CT for an scan of the brain and her IV had infiltrated and she was a very difficult access and when I asked Josh Rose RN to assist me as he's able to perform Ultrasound guided access he never hesitated to say yes and immediately came and got the line in so the patient could go to CT with no delay in care. Thanks Josh for being an amazing co-worker and team member.

I just would like to recognize the ER Nurses at CSJH in Lexington for going out of their way to provide exceptional care to a recent patient in the ER.  The patient wanted to recognize the ER Nurses because they were willing to take care of her child (feed and comfort) while she was very sick and in much pain and until her husband could arrive to the ER.  The patient and her family are from out of state and she was very impressed and thankful.  This is just one example of the level of care that is being provided by the staff here at CSJH in Lexington.  Great Job!

Thank you Josh for validating Premier data for the new Resident custom group for me!  I appreciate your teamwork and Premier expertise.

We had a difficult patient on our unit that her and the family member had been very rude and hateful towards staff for several days.  When the patient's family member threatened members of the nursing staff, security was called.  Several members of the security team came on the unit and escorted the guy off the unit.  The members of the security team were Fred Hodges, Brian Jones, and Dee Stockton.  They were speedy in responding and really had our back and safety at heart. Thank Y'all so much from the 7 mountain staff!!

Over the last 6 months Dan Djuric has pioneered a critical new technology tool for the ambulatory Care Coordination team. This work supports the care of patients served in approximately 50 Family and Community Medicine and Internal Medicine practices across Southwest Virginia. This new technology tool has replaced a manual paper tracking system used to identify patients discharged from Carilion and non-Carilion facilities, who are risk stratified and followed via telephone contact by nurses for thirty days.
