The CSJH Joint Team completed their first anterior approach total hip replacement on Tuesday, February 5th. A huge "Thank You" goes out to Dr. Michael Karch who has the vision of bringing cutting edge orthopaedic care to Lexington. The CSJH team is comprised of Loretta Sensabaugh (RN), Bob Williams (RN), Mickey Branch (Surg Tech), Rachel Dressler (CST), Felicia Harlin (RN), Vona Olson (RN), Dr. Curtis (Anesthesia), John Johnson (RN - CRMH CTL), and Sam Robbins (PA-C). Your commitment makes a difference in the care we are able to provide to our community.

Kim Reese is moving on up to bigger and better things at Carilion NRV Medical Center.  Many know that today is Kim's last day with the Maintenance Department and will be transferring over to Security Services.  Although her role maybe changing you can definitely believe that her commitment and compassion to CNRVMC and our guests will not.  If anyone deserves this opportunity, it's someone has hardworking as you.  I hope this new position brings you great satisfaction and wish you all the best. 

     I would like to thank Carolyn Smith at the HR customer service line for Benefits. I had a number of different questions, regarding leave, reimbursement for premiums, the cost of benefits now- having changed position and much more. She listened to my concerns, promptly found the information needed resolving the request. My next step was to call payroll, determining repayment amounts and schedule. As I reached for the phone, it rang. It was Caroline; she had already called Payroll for me, and was excited to let me know I was all paid up!

We have the pleasure of taking care of many wonderful people. But there are some that just become so special not only to us, but we are special to them. That special one for us is "Mr C." He had been talking about hoping he makes it to his 90th birthday & we are thankful he has. So on that special day when he showed up for his appointment we had a surprise for him (but not from his son, whom we had shared our plans with). We had decorated his room, had cupcakes made for him, a gift & staff even came in on their off day, all to celebrate his 90th Birthday.

Big shout out to Courtney Esposito for her awesome teamwork!  An original question about a function in Power Bi resulted in helping me validate a data error.

CTCH held a retirement celebration on Monday, January 28th, to honor Kathren Dowdy for her 43 years of service to Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital.  The hospital staff, past employees and many community members came together to show their appreciation to Kathren for everything she has done for the hospital and community.  Kathren’s last day with CTCH will be Friday, February 1st.  She will be greatly missed by everyone.  We wish her much happiness in her retirement!
