It's easy to find ourselves in a position to pass the buck, however, Grace Henderson did the exact opposite today. In the midst of working a busy schedule, she was found combing through a patient's formulary to find a medication that the pt's insurance would cover. Great job, Grace!

Thanks to Althea and everyone on 9S for backing me up with a tough patient. It was great to know that help from all was just seconds away every time I hit that call bell! Together we were able to turn around our patient's rough night for the better.

I enjoyed a visit last week to Healing Strides in Boones Mill to observe the use of therapeutic riding for some of Carilion's youngest patients. Thanks to Lisa Belderes, PT; Lauren Maxwell, PT; and Emily Guill SPT I was able to observe how physical therapy and even speech therapy is delivered to boys and girls while they ride horses in a special setting prepared just for them by expert equine handlers in partnership with members of our Carilion family.
