Stroke Patient Care

Submitted by pdflinchum on

Britni Price and Lisa Girani (ED RNs), Elizabeth Era (CT Tech), and Dr. Caroline Cox  went above and beyond on a stroke alert patient on 8/9.  Their teamwork and patient care was outstanding.  I appreciate their dedication for our stroke population.

Thank you!

CNRV Pharmacists going above and beyond

While I was at CNRV Community Pharmacy,  pharmacist Matthew Robinson noticed a rash on my arm, and ask pharmacist Andrew Tarasidis to look at it also.  They agreed that it looked like a tick bite rash and encouraged me to go to the doctor ASAP.  They were correct and I am being treated.  Thanks guys for your diligence and concern for patients and co-workers!

Taquia goes above and beyond!

I want to give major kudos to 11 West Nurse Taquia for going above and beyond for her patient. One of her patient's enjoyed applesauce and when the unit ran out of applesauce, Taquia spared a few minutes of her commute to work to literally run into Kroger and purchase some of the squeezable applesauce pouches for her patient. This is a fine example of going above and beyond for your patients. I applaud this nurse for being awesome!

Going Above and Beyond

A huge shout-out to Tanisha Rice and Korpo Sumo from Environmental Services.  They did an outstanding job in responding to an incident tonight. Both workers had to clean the hallway and wall from the Trauma Elevator to the Trauma Bay area. They worked swiftly to get the job done in order for the hallway to be reopened and to keep others safe from contamination. I requested their help, and neither hesitated to get the job done. I appreciate everything you did tonight.

Amazing Save!

One of our patients was scheduled for discharge yesterday and the Nursing Assistant was getting vital signs and saw that her oxygen saturation was extremely low. She notified the Registered Nurse assigned to the patient and our Restorative Aide walked the patient on room air. Her oxygen saturations dropped very low and her heart rate went very high. The nurse called the physician and got an x-ray that showed that her lungs were filled and she would need an immediate intervention.

Above and Beyond Teamwork

Richard Rowe exuded all Carilion values while transitioning a new hire in nuclear medicine. Richard graciously traveled to Giles from his normal job at CNRV to train and orientate the only Nuclear Medicine employee at Giles. Richard shared his knowledge of Quality Assurance, process flow, ordering doses, as well as scanning and processing exams. During the transition, our new hire had a family event that called him away and Richard stepped up and offered to cover the schedule so it would not disrupt patient care. Richard is committed to all patients and is a champion for Carilion.
