Joyce Wallace retiring after 47 years of compassionate service with Carilion

Happy Retirement Joyce!

Joyce Wallace has been a dedicated Carilion employee since June 21, 1972.  Her career began working inpatient at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, then in 1992, she transferred to the outpatient setting with the OB GYN Clinic as Healthcare Administrative Associate.  As part of this role, she has greeted thousands of patients during the past 27 years. She voices she has stayed this long because she loves the people she works with and helping our patients.  "They really need us," she says with great warmth and compassion.  Joyce has consistently brought sunshine to her teammates by sharing kind words, supplying delicious snacks, and remembering everyone at holidays with a thoughtful gift or gesture.  After 47 years of service,  Joyce will be retiring from Carilion on 08/31/2019. 

Joyce's best piece of advice for someone just beginning their healthcare career is:  "Just show them you care. Believe me, they're going to remember it."
