This is for all hospital staff who continue to come to work on a daily basis. All staff should be recognized for their commitments. It takes a team to run our hospitals and to continue the care of our patients. From medical, cleaning and feeding. We are all in this together and without all of our departments or team members we could not run efficiently nor successfully. So to everyone that comes to work everyday. I'd like to thank my manager, Tammy Purser, and my coworker, Cheryl Witt, for their continuous efforts to keep the work going even though we are short 4 out of the 6 who work with Medicaid denials and no response. Not many managers would jump in to help like Tammy Purser has done...she is so awesome! And a great big thank you to Cheryl Witt for being here to tackle out daily work load with a helpful, productive attitude! I love my job and the ones I work with!

Thanks to Becky Dampeer RN (7S ICU CTL) for her idea of new signage to Interventional Radiology.  While taking a stroke patient to IR, she noticed the signage was not clear and concise.  This could delay time sensitive cases and influence patient outcomes.  She notified me and we developed new signage.  This change will help EMS, non-Carilion EMS, Lifeguard, ED personnel, and CMC personnel to navigate to IR.  Thanks Becky for the great idea and making things better for our staff and patients.

I worked with Joshua on a difficult case of a young woman who needed medical decision making with almost no contact information to find family. Joshua worked relentlessly throughout the day and was able to reach Patient's mother after many dead ends. I am super impressed by his dedication and wanted to recognize him.

An elderly patient was scheduled for a CT and needed contrast.  Her condition made it difficult for her to wait several hours after drinking the contrast to have the exam, so she was told to pick the contrast up and she could drink it at home.   Once she arrived at the hospital, the department was out of the product.  Ken took it upon himself to take the contrast to the patient’s home in West Virginia after work.  The patient and her family were very complimentary of Ken and the fact that he went above and beyond to assist the patient and minimizin

I would like to give a big shout out to this amazing lady right here, Denise Stockton, our Dietary Manager at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital. There is absolutely nothing that Denise will not do. Denise has been so instrumental and helpful in many ways for us here at CFMH, particularly during this most recent COVID pandemic. As a member of our CFMH Leadership team and our Incident Command Team, Denise constantly rises to the occasion to help out in any way.

Thank you to all who participated in our recent Virgin Pulse corporate-wide challenge in May! We had a grand total of over 1,700 employees participate in the "Great Escapes" step challenge, and over 700 participants (about 40 percent) averaged 10,000 steps a day to earn the 100 point bonus – way to go!

The CAPS Team is excited to announce that the staff from 10 MTN ICU submitted the most non-anonymous Near Misses/Unsafe Conditions (Great Catch!) through SafeWatch for the month of May! The staff on 10 MTN ICU submitted 7 SafeWatch reports. That’s 7 opportunities that could lead to process improvements and creating a safer environment for our patients and care teams. Their COMMITMENT to patient safety is shining through! Great work!
