Thank you to all who participated in our first Virgin Pulse corporate-wide steps challenge of 2021, “Taking Our Lives Back in 2021”!

We had 1,241 employees and 318 teams participate in the challenge. The total number of steps achieved was over 147 million, which translates to about 71K miles – almost 3 trips around the world! Each participant averaged approximately 115K steps over the course of the two-week challenge.

9MICU wants to recognize two of our employees:  James H. and Alberto B. They both need to be recognized for their commitment and their initiative to make our unit a comfortable place for our patients and our colleagues.

Your hard work at our vaccine clinics with VDH has not gone un-noticed. This week, community members sent in letters of appreciation to the Roanoke Times, expressing their gratitude for the well-executed events at the Berglund Center.

We all know some of those special patients. We had one 'very' special patient and family on 7S PCU. Discharge planning was intricate to say the least. Our Case Manager worked so hard to make sure that this patient's discharge to home was as smooth as it could be. Theresa Smith went far above and beyond for this patient & his wife. Working beside her and with this pt for the past 100 days, I have no doubt that Theresa can handle right about anything!
