Everyone working in healthcare surely has some degree of Covid burnout by now. Dee Fix, Director of Facilities at CSJH recognized that staff could use a moment or two to just think of something else and came up with the fun idea for staff to exchange valentines. She purchased valentines cards for each department to use. Each employee has the opportunity to recognize a co-worker or department who has gone above and beyond to help them, put a smile on their face or who is just always there to help. Employees will drop their valentines in one of the mail bags Dee decorated.

Recently Karen Alley with Care Coordination Support was highlighted in her community for uniting two churches to show love to neighbors, medical staff @ TCRH, elderly shutins and school nurses.

Karen assisted Woodlawn UMC & Shiloh UMC to combine forces to reach out to medical personnel, elderly neighbors and school nurses. Karen also has worked with community to develope a new grief ministry for people who have recently lost loved ones.

Lauren Hedge, the Department Secretary of Neurosurgery, has been volunteering at the ION building to help staff the COVID vaccine clinics. Thank you for going above and beyond for your fellow Carilion co-workers.-Autumn Tucker, Administrative Supervisor

Thanh Nguyen and Najee McMillian dedicating their time at the Burgland Center on 1/30 helping with the COVID-19 vaccination clinic. Thanh and Najee are committed to providing care to their community by helping  provide this much needed vaccination to our most vulnerable population. Both ladies work full time with Internal Medicine and we are very thankful for their willingness to step up and help out! Way to go!!

The National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS) announced the election of its President-Elect, Secretary/Treasurer and three members of the Board of Directors today.

Amazing work by Brooke Shelton on 11 West. She reviewed a chart for a patient targeted for admission on 11 West. Upon review her assessment lead her to believe this patient should be admitted to a PCU. She called the appropriate physician team expressing her concern leading to this patient being admitted to a PCU directly. What a great commitment to recognizing and advocating for patient needs.

The CAPS Team is excited to announce that the staff from CMC Emergency Department submitted the most non-anonymous Near Misses/Unsafe Conditions (Great Catch!) through SafeWatch in the month of January, for a total of 6 Great Catches! Your commitment to patient safety is shining through and we want to take a moment to celebrate you! Your team is a valuable asset here at Carilion Clinic.

Tyler Nelson from EVS covered on 8MICU on 2/1 and did a FANTASTIC job! She SCRUBBED the floors and sinks in each room, wiped down everything, and the rooms were so clean when she left you could smell it when you opened the doors. Understandably, most staff don't like filling in on the covid ICU but she so with a positive attitude and left the place sparkling! Keep up the good work, Tyler! Your efforts don't go unnoticed and we appreciate you!

I went the to the Carilion Brambleton location  on the 26th of January for my first vaccine. I was very impressed  how efficient they were. Not only was it all a very quick and streamed lined experience you did not even feel the shot!  After you had the shot you sat down in a seat, and they had employees standing in the halls watching you!
