I seen Dana Felton out in the ER parking lot picking up trash and mask. I always see her wiping down chairs and always cleaning with a smile. i just wanted it to be known you are appreciated.
I personally think each one of these employees deserve a HUGE WOW.... I was asked to come help on 9-2-2021 due to short staff at the testing site. When I arrived around lunch time, there were 396 patients on the schedule to be tested... the cars were lined out to 419/Electric Road..... on a good day it takes a good 8-10 employees to run the site with this amount of patients. There was ONE person swabbing (Johnny Nicely - Manager of Postal Testing Site) Coty Preston literally outside collecting info.
Annually, the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS) celebrates CNS Week during the first week of September. We do this in honor of Dr. Hildegard Peplau, Ed.D., RN (1909 – 1999), who established the CNS role. September 1st is her birthday. If she were alive today, she would be 112-years-old. The CNS role has been in existence for 65 years with nearly 90,000 CNSs currently practicing in the United States.

I’m sad to report that our dear friend and colleague Bruce A. Long, MD, FACS, passed away Sunday evening with his loving family at his side. Dr. Long was a renowned surgeon and a gifted teacher, and he devoted his entire career to our Roanoke community. In more than three decades as a surgeon, he demonstrated the highest levels of commitment to clinical excellence, compassionate patient care, education, and service at Carilion Clinic and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.

CRBH would like to recognize Pharmacy Technician, Karen Tomlin for another Great Catch! While conducting Med Rec in the CRBH ED, Karen discovered that a patient was prescribed/taking Toprol XL 200mg and Toprol XL 100mg daily. Karen called the patient's Cardiologist and determined that the patient should only be taking 200mg of Toprol XL. She made the correction to the patient's medication list. Great catch, AGAIN Karen! Well-done.
CRBH would like to recognize ICU Nurse, Mary Koonce, RN with a Great Catch Award for her recent outstanding work in recognizing and managing multiple transition of care issues for an ICU patient. Mary embodies the role of "patient advocate" exceptionally well. Great work, and thank you for all that you do for our patients!

Pam Hurt has a huge heart for the children and families of our clinic and has stepped up when so many things changing around her. Changing co workers and training new ones for the Move as well as the new added duties she has gained in the transition phase of the move to Tanglewood. She has shown so many of the aspects of Carilion's lines she needs to be recognized for it.
