MED POD 1 leadership team rounded on their units for Halloween and passed out Nachos and Salsa to all their staff on both days and nights yesterday to show their appreciation to the staff.

At the Birthplace at CNRV, we had a newborn with a very specific formula need. Unfortunately, we did not have it in stock, neither did RMH's mother baby or pediatric departments. Mark Cook from MM went way above and beyond to resolve the issue for us. He found a way when we could not see one. We appreciate him regularly, as he always makes sure we have what we need, but this day, his commitment and heart to help really shinned!!
I wanted to take a moment in the middle of spiritual care week to recognize the work of the Chaplaincy Services team who provide 24 hour in house spiritual and emotional support to patients and Staff. James Bunch and David Fox work the overnight shift to ensure no need goes unmet no matter the hour. Jacque Green and Loresa Heyward share 2nd shift and weekend responsibilities. Sunny Miller and Lisa Vineyard are our two flex time team members that help hold the department together. Cindy Meadows and Keith Little round out the team providing care for 1st shift during the week.
To my fellow RTs, thank you for all that you do for our patients and colleagues. You all are so appreciated for everything that you do! Thank you for running from one end of the hospital to the other to help our patients breathe easier. Thank you for managing the ventilators and the bipaps and the heated high flows. Thank you for giving the nebulizers, suctioning, and getting the ABGs. Thank you for talking to patients and their families to explain things and put them at ease. Thank you for standing up for what is right and doing the very best to take care of your patients.

Carilion President and CEO Nancy Howell Agee was honored on Tuesday with the 2021 Cabell Brand Hope Award from Roanoke-based nonprofit Total Action for Progress (TAP). She was recognized for her leadership, service, commitment and contributions to health care.
In her remarks, Nancy said she accepted the award on behalf of all of Carilion's employees who have worked tirelessly in the last two years amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
