Our 17th annual Research Day featured more than 100 oral and poster presentations from residents, fellows, faculty, staff and students in undergraduate and graduate programs—and even a Hidden Valley High School and Roanoke Valley Governor's School student! Forty-one presentations were by student researchers.

Earth Day is Monday, April 22 and our Sustainability team is hosting events throughout the week to celebrate.

Did you know that CRMH has been the Commonwealth’s top donor hospital for three of the past five years?

Not only that, but nearly all of our hospitals recover donor tissue each year as well!

As a not-for-profit organization, it’s important that we avoid conflicts of interest. To that end, each year we send a questionnaire to staff who may influence purchasing or operational decisions at Carilion, to identify potential conflicts of interest.

This year’s questionnaires will be sent on Monday, April 15.

On Wednesday, June 12, from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m., we will upgrade CRMH’s power source.

This is the fourth planned update to the hospital’s power grid; the first three were in February, April, and May and went smoothly thanks to the engagement and collaboration of teams across Carilion.

During the upgrade’s 3-hour window, the hospital will be on full generator power for about 45 minutes, and there will be planned periodic outages/downtimes at CRMH.

May 2024 Update: A Convenient Location and a Unique Local Partnership for our Proposed Hospital

We submitted the Certificate of Public Need (COPN) application on May 1 and are awaiting approval from the Commonwealth. In the meantime, we have proposed partnering with Riverdale Southeast, LLC, the Roanoke-based developers who are repurposing the industrial Riverdale property near our Carilion Medical Center campus.

More than 100 abstracts were submitted this year—nearly a quarter more than last year’s 77 submissions.

Every year, we offer summer camp options for different groups of kids and teens. Registration is now open, and required, for all camps. 

Camp Treehouse

Camp Treehouse is a free one-day camp for children and teens, grades K-8, who have lost a loved one. The camp provides a caring, safe environment where youth can explore their feelings and concerns.

This year's camp will be held in Fincastle on May 18 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
