Notice of Upcoming Detour on South Jefferson Street Near CRMH

Submitted by abshaver on

Beginning mid-September, part of South Jefferson Street will be closed to traffic while we construct a pedestrian bridge connecting the Crystal Spring Tower to the facilities and parking garage across the street. We expect this work to take about three months.

The impacted area is one block of South Jefferson Street between McClanahan Street SW and the traffic light in front of CRMH.

Traffic will be detoured to Rosalind Avenue SW and Carolina Avenue SW. We will keep the sidewalk on one side of South Jefferson Street open to pedestrians.

Getting to Know Morgan Witt

Submitted by aeanstey on

Carilion Police Officer Morgan Witt first started with Carilion in October 2022 as a security officer with the goal of becoming a police officer. In November, she graduated from the Cardinal Criminal Justice police academy, inspired by her mother who also started with Carilion as a security officer and now is a deputy. During Officer Witt's time at the academy, she took a two-hour course on emergency delivery of a baby. She and her fellow officers never thought they would need to put these skills into practice.
