Recognizing Ron Meadows, Imaging Manager, for recognizing an easier way to communicate using EPIC Radiant Department Appointment Reports.  Schedules were being printed and handed to the Radiologist to assign Acuity levels prior to this.  Utilizing this method provided easier communication beween Radiologist, Leaders, and Staff in regards to rescheduling patients as the Radiologists can type an Acuity level right into EPIC.

Mohammed Ahmed, a Data Analyst with TSG's Enterprise Data Warehouse team, is a perfect example of Carilion's core value of Curiosity in action. Whenever he has a few spare minutes, he spends it researching new techniques and tools to improve his skills. If he overhears teammates discussing something that he doesn't understand, he will research the topic after hours and will often come in the next morning and discuss his new found knowledge with teammates who may still have questions.

Desiree Beasley, Kim Carter, Chris Monk, and Laura Reiter participated in an EBP Immersion at the Ohio State University Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing and Healthcare from March 2-6, 2020. This workshop provides a “deep dive” immersion into evidence-based practice (EBP), which is a “problem-solving approach that integrates the conscientious use of best evidence, clinician expertise and patient preferences to make decisions”.

Jake Thornton and Ken Hatfield discovered report discrepancies with after-hours coverage, which could have resulted in an incorrect diagnosis or unnecessary radiation.  Through their diligence, we were able to identify issues and work toward a solution.  Thank you, Jake and Ken for your curiosity, courage, and commitment!

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has appointed our very own, Dr. Charles Bullins, II as the new Chair of the Adult - Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Content Expert Panel.  The appointment will be from 10/1/2019 - 12/31/2021.  ANCC recognized Charles' talent right away during a recent trip, so it was no surprise when this appointment came shortly thereafter.

Kudos to our Marketing and Communications team for planning and executing a fantastic event for our Carilion Children's Tanglewood announcement on Sept. 26.

In two short weeks, the team produced a video news report and multiple additional communications; coordinated event logistics, prepared remarks, media outreach and dozens of invited dignitaries; and hosted a Facebook Live streaming of the event.

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) is pleased to announce that Carilion Clinic has earned 2019 CHIME HealthCare’s Most Wired recognition as a certified level 8. The Most Wired program conducts an annual survey to assess how effectively healthcare organizations apply core and advanced technologies into their clinical and business programs to improve health and care in their communities.

Our group exercise instructors in Wellness are always seeking new ways to bring the most innovative fitness experience to our members and community! Recently, instructors Amanda Gallo (Botetourt), Betty Bridges (Westlake), Brittany Cox (Westlake), Emma Wegener (Westlake), and Marissa Cook (Botetourt) attended a two day training in Virginia Beach to hone their skills in cycling instruction. Way to go ladies on a job well done!
