This time of year it is normal for us to get hikers from the Appalachain Trail with various injuries and illnesses. Yesterday we had a man come in with an injury to his leg that we found needed to be treated at the emergency room. He was hiking with his niece and a friend who had just graduated and his first concern was for them and their safety. Lisa Booth one of our clinical assistants knew how to help. She called guest services and arranged for the patient and the two girls to get a hotel room.
A very special thank you arrived to six of the the 6W-CCDU staff this week . A thank you for compassionate and caring care was sent to Sadie Dooley, RN Getta Shadab, RN, Gabriel Mead, RN, Lisa McCaul, NA and Shaye Lester, NA from a patient that they all cared for this week.
So proud of these guys for all they do and all they give to our patients every day. You really are THE PATIENT EXPERIENCE !!!

Susan is absolutely amazing to work with. She is such a caring person. She goes above and beyond for all of her patients to make sure they receive he best care possible. She is a major support for the staff as well. As soon as she comes onto her shift, she rounds with all of the staff to ensure that things are going smoothly. If there is a problem with a patient, she is prompt to take action and works really hard for the patients. Susan is an excellent provider and I am honored to work with her.

"Seth cares for his patients, and often times he will go above and beyond such as when there was a patient that wanted a Dr. Pepper and we did not have that on stock. Seth went to the cafeteria and bought the soda for the patient."
"In palliative, we have not had our volunteers come in to sit with the dying patients in our no one dies alone program due to COVID so when Seth can he will spend extra time with his dying patients who are alone."
When our HAA's, Angela Hurley, son was injured during active duty in the Middle East, he was flown to Oklahoma for surgery. Angela very much wanted to be with him during his hospital stay. Due to this being a last-minute request, we did not have full coverage from the float pool. Our manager, Elizabeth Rutrough, arranged her schedule to accommodate and cover the gaps. Elizabeth always goes out of her way to improve our team and make each of feel treasured. She is by far one of the best managers I have worked with. Thank you Elizabeth for all you do!

I would like to give a big shout out to our night shift EEG/EMU staff, Ashley Saul and Isaac Dailey, last night for taking care of three epilepsy patients having multiple seizures throughout their shift. Even going as far as helping with CA duties on these patients because nursing staff was involved in a code during that time. Thank you for all your dedication and hard work taking care of our EMU patients! Keep up the good work!
