Going the Extra Mile

Submitted by babramlett on

We had a patient that had walked about 3 hours just to be seen at VelocityCare-Westlake. When the patient was about to leave, Emilee Shrewsbury volunteered to help the patient out by getting him transportation home. The compassion Emilee showed to him and shows daily to our patients is why we do what we do and is an example to us all. Thank you for going the extra mile to help him out!

Patient Rep. at CNRV Ricardo Montoy

Submitted by KMHoward on

I just want to say a big thank you to Ricardo Montoy for his help with two patients recently.  I work in imaging but I was helping screen outside the ER when he just happened to be walking by and there was a family that spoke Spanish that I was trying to screen.  He stopped and helped translate for me and made the family feel taken care of.  Then about 2 weeks later I went to get a patient in the ER for an x-ray and he came by and helped translate once again.  He even came over to the x-ray room and helped explain everything to the patient.  This is a great service

We have a patient on 7W who has been with us for a few days.  During his hospitalization, his wife was admitted to an ICU for a while before downgrading to a PCU here at CRMH.  Lexie Basiliere, RN and her RN orientee, Alyssa Craig, decided to see if their patient could visit his wife because not only was she in the hospital, but it was also her birthday.  Lexie made a few calls to arrange the visit with the other PCU and their patient’s physician.  After their shift was over, Lexie and Alyssa stayed behind to take their patient on a little trip to anoth

Case Managed!

Submitted by spprice on

While in with a patient, patient and family expressed a lot of concerns regarding placement in a facility, insurance, and wanted to speak with a member of the care management social work and case management team. I sent an email to the on-duty team and within 5 minutes Michele Kipley was at the door waiting to address their concerns. Thanks for being on patient's comfort a top priority!

Pam Johnson, RN Makes a House Call!

Submitted by eaayers on

Pamela Johnson, RN Coordinator for the General Surgery CCR3 Oncology Surgeon went above and beyond recently, when a patient was in need of prep and medications prior to a surgery and was unable to get to the pharmacy to get what he needed.  Time was running out for the patient to have what he needed in a timely fashion so Pam offered to pick up the order from the pharmacy for the patient and drive them to his house.  She never hesitates to be available to our patients night and day, and is willing to do whatever she can to ensure her providers and patients are taken care of.&

Maleena Williams, RN, Daisy Award Recipient

Submitted by tpallen on

Maleena absolutely embodies the qualities of a nurses nurse, and is such deserving of a Daisy Award!

In her nomination, submitted on May 5, 2020, her patient wrote "Two beautiful young ladies, nurses, that took great care of me while I was in the ICU Vascular.  I am usually accompanied by my husband, daughter and sister when I'm hospitalized and I did feel uneasy, but the nurses made me feel so welcomed.  Thank you."
