Above and Beyond

Dr Pines is not only an exceptionally skilled physician, but also exemplifies great compassion and personalized care to her patients.  She goes above and beyond in her care for our patients. Just last week she brought in a birthday cake and gathered up available staff to sing 'Happy Birthday' to a patient while completing her daily rounds. I'm sure it lifted the patient's spirit and was a great start to our day as well!

Thank you Dr Pines for all you do!

In celebration of Week of the Nurse, there was a hot dog lunch yesterday. Lori Price went above and beyond to ensure her fellow nurses on several ICUs and PCUs were able to enjoy lunch even though they weren't able to leave their units! Lori- the compassion you showed for your colleagues was amazing! Thank you for brightening the day for others! You are AWESOME!!

WOW! WOW! WOW!

I cannot not say thank you enough for pediatric leadership and the physicians for making Nurses Week amazing for our staff. Each day there is a theme that makes coming into work so enjoyable. Not only the themes but the food, sweets, and gifts are so thoughtful. The last two years has been rough and challenging but finally being able to celebrate is amazing.  I am so proud to be apart of Carilion Children's Hospital. I feel very appreciated and it's a true pleasure to work here. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

My partner in RMH Medcom received a call from someone threatening to kill themself and kept him talking while police were trying to locate him at the location he initially told he was at.  She was able to keep him calm and he didn't do anything to himself while she had him on the phone.  This is not part of her job description or listed as something we would be expected to receive in here. She kept him talking, going outside to see if she could here sirens when the police sounded them.  Just an excellent job! A GREAT demonstration of COMPASSION
