Outstanding & unbiased care by sonographer

Submitted by daarrington on

Beth Hardy Carilion sonographer saw a patient in OB Triage today and made her day!  The patient was sleeping through most of the exam and when she awoke to the sweet baby pictures Beth left taped to her bed rail the patient was beyond grateful.  Through tears she gushed about how wonderfully Beth treated her during the exam giving compassionate care and soothing her back to sleep when she would startle awake.  The patient learned she was likely having baby girls when she woke.  Just after she found the pictures and went on and on about how exceptional her care had been w

Ayanna's Compassion was above and beyond

Submitted by swhodges on

Ayanna was caring for a patient who had been in our department for over 3 days for issues beyond their control.  Ayanna spent a little extra time with this patient and offered to sit down with her and braid her hair. The patient appreciated the help and this gesture seemed to really cheer her up during a tough time. Ayanna showed great compassion for this young lady and definitely improved her stay in the ED.  Thank you Ayanna for doing what you didn't have to do.

A Big Thanks to the Medical Unit at CNRV

Submitted by jpthornton on

My father-in-law was a patient on the unit from April 4-10th.  We cannot say enough about how good everyone on the unit was to him.  Dr. Hamden was great, thorough and explained things to him so he could understand.  I know that he had Amy, Elizabeth and Sandra has his nurses.  I did not catch the names of the nursing assistants but they were wonderful as well. Everyone did their jobs with a smile and a sense of humor which my father-in-law has and enjoys as good as he gets.  Thank you very much to the Medical unit at CNRV.

On April 11, 2023, a mutual patient was being transported back to his home. When Jessica Walden, EMT and Chelsea Nichols, paramedic arrived with the patient at his home, his DME had not yet arrived. While waiting on the DME to arrive, these two ladies provided a calming environment, in the sunshine for the patient and family. He really enjoyed feeling the sun on is skin and the family even stated " Everything happens for a reason and this was a blessing in disguise."

Jenifer Duty,RN radiates compassion in the ED at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital. Everyone that she comes into contact with is greeted with a smile. Not  only will you receive the best care from her, but I guarantee you won't leave hungry or without any essential needs. 10 years ago, Jenifer got those words that so many times she has heard the ER doctor tell her patients..." You have cancer." After going for her first screening colonoscopy at the age of 50, she was told she had colon cancer.

Imagine my pride when I noticed that I was twinning with Chaplain Rick....what an honor!!!

Easter Bunny Visits Carilion Children's

Submitted by cjholtzhauer on

The Easter Bunny stopped by Carilion Children's Hospital to see NICU and our Pediatric Patients in Acute Care and in the PICU this past weekend to spread some springtime cheer to our tiniest patients and their families!

A special thank you to Member One Federal Credit Union for donating the bunny costume, Heather Kissner for playing the Easter Bunny, members of the Family Advisory Board for their work in coordinating this special event, and Amy Hayden Photography for the beautiful photos.
